Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 2nd June

EILEEN - STEVE - TIM - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Eileen should be honoured, she's had not one but two returning characters to facilitate her leaving storyline, which seems to be taking even longer than Daisy's. Then again it's nice to see her featuring heavily, which we haven't done for a long time as the stories have very much featured newer characters in recent months. The next thing she has to deal with is a story in the Gazette about her and the life insurance/premature embalming (I have to say that the Gazette used to be a respectable rag, not a scandal sheet. But local newspapers do what they have to do to survive, I suppose. Next week it'll be You'll Never Guess What Bethany Platt Looks Like Now or This One Item From Dev's Will Change Your Life). But who grassed to the press? The usual suspects are rounded up: Tracy, scorned exs (Danielle) but the person being fingered the most is Nasty Noah the homophobe, but he's not in this episode so we'll just have to cancel him off-screen.

JASON - DANIELLE - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Jason compounds Eileen's problems by turning no. 11 into a French farce as he and Danielle meet in the pub and when she finds out he's Tod's brother, she goes chez Grimshaw for some afternoon delight. In Mary's bed! With (a poster of) Ben Shepherd watching over his flock! I thought Danielle was supposed to be mad-religious as well and shouldn't really be congressing outside of the marital bed. Can we keep her though? She seems fun, unlike tortured Theo, who was good at first (the overly confident hunky builder archetype) and now just wanders the cobbles looking haunted. Anyway, of course he turns up post-coital and it all kicks off. Between George's inappropriate proposal and her daffy sons, it's no wonder Eileen is considering going off to Thailand with Jason and the insurance money. I do hope she bumps into a holidaying Jesse and Gail.

CARL - TRACY - STEVE - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Love, or something like it, is also in the air as Tracy and Carl have a quickie (a date. A date!) in the pub but it feels like both of them are trying to make another jealous, Steve and Abi respectively (Abi certainly has put on quite a lot of slap to get grubby under cars). Tracy definitely (maybe) wants a divorce which will make it number 7 for Steve. He and Glenda commiserate in the pub - could Glenda be his 8th divorce?

TIM - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Talking of divorce, Tim almost causes his as he agrees to meet the fostering social worker without Sally, although she pops back to number 4 and interrupts the meeting. I'm not sure how Tim was going to foster a child without Sally knowing, keep the kid in the attic?

Great review, really showing how ridiculous the current storylines are. The fantasy Gazette articles are spot on.
