I have an intense dislike for Cassi...she doesn't really want to have a relationship with Tyrone as much as she says she does..more like doens't want to be held accountable. She is not equal to the lovely Evelyn either. I even preferred Abi when she was in her junkie state to Cassi. She makes my skin crawl...
As a Canadian viewer I am not looking forward to this storyline whatsoever, from what I have read (ahead) she seems like a nasty piece of work. Hope her stay is a short one.
I think Cassie is going to turn out to be a bad 'un.
Although Eveyln and Cassie are strong characters, they both blame and counter blame each other for Cassie's drug addiction.
It goes round in circles, so it becomes tedious.
I feel that an addiction to prescription drugs is a more interesting plot, especially if the GP is happy to dole them out, as they did with Gemma and anti- depressants.
Why didn't Gemma try talking therapy first, and see how she got on with that instead of automatically gulping down pills with side effects?
There's a long waiting list for counselling via the NHS but some charities offer it free.
Surely there must be one in a big city like Manchester that could see her - maybe a well women centre of some kind?
I never much liked Abi or Sally Carman who plays her. I think Abi two settings: boring or chaotic, and when she's chaotic she gets forgiven for awful behaviour that the other characters shouldn't tolerate. I think Sally Carman has a tendency to overact but also has a very limited range of facial expressions. She's not too bad with the lighter material, but I can't put myself through much more of watching her snivelling and crying.
However compared to Cassie, Abi is a delight. Cassie is just Abi without any of the redeeming qualities. She's thoroughly unlikeable, and I don't know whether it's the Botox or what, but Claire Sweeney plays her with a permanent grimace that seems to convey no clear emotion but discomfort. I really hope she's not around for the long haul -one Abi was more than enough for me!
