Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 5th June

DAISY - DANIEL - RYAN - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Everyone gets to have their day in court as Justin faces justice, Max is released and Daisy fails to fess up under oath to Daniel about the kiss with Ryan. Justin is found guilty, so that's the last we'll see of the sexy stalker* and his sour-faced sister. Daisy attempts to comfort Ryan but he is wary of her. Later on, when Ryan is looking at Crystal's FriendsConnect page, he sees that her sister (or assistant? not sure) has posted that Crystal has been in an accident, seconds before he receives a message from her/Daisy. Rather than assuming her social media has been hacked, he jumps straight to the conclusion that he's being cat-fished. Mind you, I'd've thought that carrying on a Cyrano-style relationship in the age of social media would be difficult and someone as internet-savvy as Daisy would've checked Crystal's socials several times a day before messaging Ryan - what if the real Crystal had posted a pic with her new boyf?

* please don't write in, I know stalking isn't sexy.

MAX - DAVID - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Max (who has managed to shape his eyebrows whilst in the STC) feels guilty about his dreadful deeds and barricades himself in his cell so he doesn't have to go home and face the music/the Street. To be honest, I'd rather be hanging out with the charming Gav than back with Gail and Lily. I do hope Gav becomes a recurring character, like Graeme Proctor, David's ex-cellmate. Alya and Yasmeen are also horrified that Max is returning and, once he is released and back home, Lily is mean to Max as well. Not that he doesn't deserve it.

ROY - EVELYN - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Unlike Max, Roy is desperate to get out and Evelyn agrees to take him home. She says she'll be back at 2 when Roy is to be discharged. If it's anything like my recent discharges from hospital, he'll still be there at 8 p.m. and have to go home without his medication because the pharmacy has closed. She dispatches Yasmeen from his bedside but unfortunately the sharp, spiky Evelyn is back and Roy is nonplussed. Not sure why Evelyn is jealous of Yas - she's having a geronto-romance with boring Stu and doesn't fancy Roy.

Meanwhile, Aggie persuades Ed to go to a French-Japanese supper club at Chariot Square along with Ronnie (in an upsetting shirt) and Debbie, who presumably gets a discount. Ed complains about double dates but then it becomes a triple date as Patrick and Yvette, ex-neighbours from Alderley Edge, pop in. Yvette didn't have to come too far - she was only two doors down and also, her bum looks about the right size in that dress. A note: Arabella Weir is 65! She looks fabulous. Anyhow, Patrick and Yvette (Patvette from now one) are your typical Corrie middle class snobs who look down on Weatherfield and its denizens. Patrick went there the other day and thought it was straight out of a Lowry painting "Everyone looked like they had TB or rickets!" That's just Chesney.

I wonder if Patvette know Gemma's snooty friends from yoga? And presumably when the Baileys had to move out of AE, their house was on the market and Patvette would have asked them then where they were going? Also, before he got into gambling, Ed made enough dough as a builder to afford Cheshire (I'm not discounting Aggie's wage but we know from recent strikes that nurses are paid a pittance). Surely he can make enough now to move away given that he's not a cowboy? Or at least buy Michael and Glory their own place. Anyway, I look forward to more class-based shenanigans in future eps.

There's also the return of the Damon/Sarah/Nick/Adam late licence storyline, but as a story about planning applications is quite dull, we'll leave that 'til next week when it looks like it'll be hotting up.
