Charlotte Jordan interview: What's next for Daisy when truth becomes Crystal clear?

How much did Justin’s guilty verdict bring Daisy a sense of closure?

Now that Daisy knows that Justin is behind bars, she can focus on healing and recovering from such a traumatic event. She has moved on in the sense that she has just shifted her focus entirely on to Ryan and she’s not actually looking at her own recovery at all - that’s something that she is actively avoiding.

What is the state of hers and Daniel’s relationship after all they’ve been through?

The state of their relationship is that Daniel is hyper-aware that Daisy is spending most of her time with Ryan and his suspicions are rising and rightly so, because she is beginning to fall for Ryan, she is lying to Daniel so trouble is on the horizon…

After Justin gave evidence, Daisy went to comfort Ryan and ended up kissing him. Ryan kissed her back before pulling away, leaving Daisy in turmoil. Does she regret her kiss with Ryan?

She does and she doesn’t. She does regret it because obviously she does love Daniel; she’s committed to him and she sees a future with him because they are still planning on getting married. But she is just really overwhelmed by these feelings that she has caught really quickly for Ryan so she’s just confused at the moment.

Hearing from Carla that Ryan is struggling, Daniel urges a guilty Daisy to pay Ryan a visit. Is she nervous about seeing Ryan again, after Daniel encourages her to visit him?

Yes and rightly so because he has said, “Let’s just put some space between us, the lines are getting really blurred here.” But she has this obsession with Ryan now and she can’t stay away for very long, it’s like she needs to know what he’s okay for her to be okay. It’s all stemming from the fact that she is avoiding dealing with her own trauma.

When she visits Ryan, he admits how much he’s missed her and leans in for a kiss. Daisy finds herself kissing him back, just as Carla returns! Tell us about that moment.

Carla walks in… at the right time, I would say, as Ryan and Daisy are getting very carried away so who knows where it is heading! She comes in at the right time to cut it off and metaphorically throw the cold water on Daisy’s face. Daisy is guilt-ridden, for multiple reasons now.

When Ryan reveals that he’s realised that she was the catfisher pretending to be Crystal, Daisy desperately tries to explain. What’s going through her mind when Ryan confronts her having learnt the truth about ‘Crystal’?

Daisy is devastated because what can she say? She knows she is fully in the wrong so she can only try and justify it from where her intentions were coming from but she knows that it was not the right thing to do and she knows that lying about it was also not the right thing to do but this are decisions she has made so she has to deal with the punishments now. Ryan’s reaction is entirely justified and it’s her own fault! She lies, she’s deceitful and she gets herself into these situations!

Does she regret sending the messages pretending to be Crystal?

Yes, she really does. We know it came from a really good place and we know initially it was just supposed to be a ‘break-up’ text but when she then continued to engage in regular conversation, it spiralled. Before she knew it, she was in too deep and she didn’t know how to get out.

As Daisy tries again to plead her case, Ryan asserts that it’s time Daniel knew about their kisses, heads out. Daisy’s horrified. Does Daisy think this could be the end for her and Daniel?

Yes, there is a real fear there when Ryan threatens that and she’s absolutely terrified that this stable world she has built for herself with Daniel is about to be ripped away from her. It’s a real genuine fear that we say there because she would absolutely be broken if Daniel left her.

Do you think that she should come clean to Daniel about the kisses before Ryan throws her under the bus or do you think that she should keep quiet?

Daniel has actually been really understanding as a partner in regards to all the time that Daisy has been spending with Ryan. He has been super supportive of the whole Crystal facade and the fact that Daisy blamed Justin’s sister, Karen, for being the catfish. He validated Daisy doing that when he said, “I think it’s better that you did that because Ryan is going to need you as a friend.” He’s been on his A-game as far as supportive partners go - I really don’t know what else the guy can do! So you would think that a little bit of honesty isn’t too much to ask for, from Daisy, but she seems to avoid honesty at all costs so I don’t think that is something that she is going to do.

Are you surprised Daisy is betraying Daniel with Ryan?

I think even the audience will see this coming and I am not surprised about this turn of events but I think Daisy is surprised. When Daisy decided to take on the role as Ryan’s protector and carer and confidant., she had no romantic intentions. She was not there just to support him through something and be a really good friend but before she knows it, she’s got these feelings that she doesn’t want and doesn’t know how to deal with.

Would a relationship between Daisy and Ryan be a good idea?

I don’t know! Because it stems from so much trauma, I don’t know how healthy it is so I am not sure on that one.

Who do you think Daisy is better suited to - Daniel or Ryan?

Daisy does have a lot in common with Ryan, like similar interests, so if it was a genuine thing that didn't stem from trauma then it could be something quite good. But at the end of the day, that’s not what happens so I think she would be better with Daniel in the long term.

Were you disappointed Daisy never got her dream wedding day?

Yes I was because that wedding was like her baby and she was so into it! She just wanted this big, flashy display of love and her and Daniel were going to be together forever. So yes I am sad that she never got that and it was so grotesquely taken from her by someone so vile and entitled. Hopefully Daisy and Daniel can find their way back to each other after all this mess and maybe have another crack at it!

How has the last six months changed Daisy as a person?

I feel like the trauma of the stalking incident has made her more jaded and she trusts the world less. She is a lot more conscious of the choices that she’s making with things like what she wears, how much makeup she wears and how she wears her hair. These things used to be a passion to her but now she’s thinking, “Okay, well this could make me end up in a situation with something really horrific happening.” So now she’s just a lot ‘less’ than what she was, which I think is really sad.

What has the viewer reaction been towards Daisy since the stalking storyline and after the acid attack storyline?

We got a massive, positive reaction from the acid attack storyline and that was really kind of people because there was such a response to it. The viewers were really great about that so hopefully as Daisy goes down this morally-conflicted path, the viewers remember what has happened and where it has stemmed from and forgive her in the future.

What’s been the hardest scenes to film during this storyline?

The whole second part of the acid attack episode was probably the most emotionally draining just because it was a lot of heavy scenes in a compacted time period so that was probably the toughest to get through. I am normally very good at snapping in and out of character but actually, I remember going home after filming those scenes and feeling really tired. I had zero energy left!

What can you tease about Daisy’s future?

We are going to see Daisy become conflicted in this triangle with Ryan and Daniel. She is going to be very confused about her feelings and we will see her potentially fall in love with two people at once.
