The return of Claudia Colby

The fantastic Claudia Colby is set to return to the street on New Years Eve, to make a donation to the raffle. But is there more to her donation than meets the eye?

Claudia was last seen in August when Lewis' deception was revealed, we saw her making comments about Audrey and laughing as Deirdre got the Manchester Tart in her face. It seems this time the character might be returning on a more regular basis, which is great news as every soap needs a posh bitchy character. No coincidence with her last name I imagine.

Coronation Street writer profile: Ellen Taylor

A new Coronation Street writer has joined the ranks with Ellen Taylor penning her first Corrie episode aired on Monday 20th December 2010.

Ellen has worked in various capacities as a storyliner, producer and writer on a range of television shows. She worked at Sky Television as a drama script editor before moving on to be the lead writer on two series of hit series Dream Team. In 2005 she moved to the BBC, where she worked as the sole storyliner on the BAFTA-winning Series 21 of Casualty and ran the script department. This led to a position writing on and running the story department for the following season.

Since then she has been an in-house development producer for the BBC, where she co-created and developed the teen drama series Mirror, Mirror for BBC3. Further details of her work there can be found here.

The loves of Sally and Kevin Webster

Sally has found out about Kevin's infidelity, compounded by the insult that he now has a son from that illicit relationship. Talk about adding insult to injury! The Webster's marraige seems to be irreparably broken, though time will tell. These two always seem to make their way back to each other eventually. Will it happen this time? Who knows!

Will Tyrone and Maria reunite?

Tonight's episode seemed to give a slight hint that Corrie's very own version of 'Ross and Rachel' will reunite. Sure when they last parted, it was because Maria tried to get Tyrone to wax, and this lead to Tyrone thinking Maria couldn't love him for who he was.

But now they're both so different, both cheated on by their spouse, both lost a spouse and both got a kid. It seems right that Tyrone and Maria reunite now, they're both older and wiser.

They could even have their own name: 'Ty-a-Maria' I think it is what Jack and Vera would want for Tyrone, and I really hope the writers go down this route.
