Which is your favourite current Corrie family?

For a bit of fun this week in the run up to the Bank Holiday weekend, we're going to be asking every day this week who our current favourite characters are.  Today it's the turn of the families.

So, who is your current, favourite Coronation Street family?

For this fan, it's the Connors and that includes Jenny flaming Bradley who'll soon be joining the clan when she marries Johnny later this year.  It also includes the return of Carla Connor in December this year. As Carla is Johnny's daughter, this means that Jenny as Johnny's new wife will be Carla's step-mother. Can you imagine the look on Carla's face when she finds out?

But never mind me. If YOU had to choose just one family from the show at the moment, as your absolute favourite, which would it be?

Vote For Your Favourite Coronation Street Family

If you had to choose just one family on Coronation Street as your favourite, which family would it be?

By family, I'm thinking of ones that have at least three generations in them - a Corrie clan, if you like.

Is it the Connor clan - dad Johnny, son Aidan and daughter Kate with Michelle on the sidelines too and Carla in the background (gone but never forgotton!).

Or would you vote for the Platts? Matriarch Audrey, mum Gail, son David, daughter Sarah, young Bethany and kids Harry and Lily?

How about the Barlows? King Ken and a whole bunch of wayward kids, stepkids and grandkids?

If you had to choose just one of them to watch on Coronation Street, which one would it be?

I reckon I'd choose the Platts because of Audrey and Gail providing some comedy moments - something that is in very short supply at No. 1 where the Barlows reside.

Corrie A-Z: F is for Families

While most soap operas put much emphasis on families, Corrie is a soap that has always been known for its individual characters. Characters like Elsie, Ena, Rita and Bet became popular despite not having any close family ties. Truth be told, it is only in recent times that a family unit has become used on the cobbles.

While Corrie hasn’t been big on families, the Barlow family has been a constant presence throughout the years from the original Barlow setup of Frank, Ida, Ken and David to the present scenario of Ken, Deirdre, Peter, Carla, Simon, Tracy and Amy. Past family members include Valerie, Susan, Uncle Albert, Irma, Janet and Blanche.

Another long-standing family unit is the Tilsley/Platt saga. Formed upon Brian marrying Gail in 1979, the family has seen members come and go. The present Tilsley/Platt family include Gail, Nick, David, Kylie, Max and Audrey. Past members include Brian, Ivy, Bert, Alf, Sarah Lou, Don, Martin, Bethany, Richard, Todd, Jason, Joe and Tina. In recent years, the Platt and Barlow families have often been seen clashing.

The Webster family are also a long-time fixture on the cobbles, having originated back in 1986 when Kevin married Sally. Rosie was born in 1990 and Sophie four years later. Both Kevin and Sally have strayed and have twice divorced but always end up together somehow. Kevin’s dad Bill and his fiancée Pam Hobsworth are also recurring members of the Webster family unit.

Other families over the years include the Baldwins, the Duckworths, the Walkers, the Alahans, the Ogdens, the McDonalds, the Windasses-Armstongs-Browns and the Peacocks.

Can you think of any other families? Who's your favourite family? Vote below! And if you haven't yet, you can vote for your favourite Corrie exit here.
