Mystery of Nick's two flats in Victoria Court

Nick sold both of his flats this week.

Wait. What?

Since when did Nick Tilsley own *two* flats in Victoria Court? I remember he moved in and was renting the one Dev owned and the other one was Carla's. Johnny was definitely renting hers, I remember him saying he was moving into "Carla's" flat.

Did Nick buy it off her to help her financially? When did he buy Dev's flat? I want to know if I missed something and I'm sitting here grumbling for nothing or if all this was behind the scenes, never mentioned, or if the writers just plain forgot.

Gail's hair fail in Coronation Street

Something's been bothering me about Coronation Street from Monday night. It's bothered me so much I had to go back and have another look. 

It's Gail's hair. 

In the second episode on Monday night there were a couple of scenes when Gail was in the Rovers talking to Kylie and David.  She's got shortish hair at this point, as you can see on the photo on the left.

A few minutes later, Nick walks into the Rovers with Carla in tow.  And Gail's hair has grown, as you can see on the photo on the right.

I'll get me anorak.

Where's Alex?

Nessa is the mother of Alex, a 28 year old lad with Down's Syndrome. He's pretty independent and often seemed to cause his mother worry when he'd go off on his own after an argument with her. He'd sometimes end up at his Auntie Cathy's house, looking for a sympathetic smile. We first met him under those circumstances. Cathy let her sister know where he was and that he was safe. Alex showed up again a few weeks later and Nessa came to fetch him that time.

It wasn't the first or the last time Alex would go walkabout, much to his mother's chagrin even if he often complained and moaned that he was 28, after all. And mostly, other than having to be told more than once that he should at least let his mother know where he is and if he's coming home, he seemed capable of looking after himself.

Enter Ken Barlow and Nessa's new crusade to bag herself a new man. Yet another one, if Cathy is to be believed. Seems Nessa regards men like children regard sweets in the candy store window. She just can't resist. So where's Alex now? So much for Nessa's over protectiveness.

The continuity of this is really doing my head in. The first time Alex came to see Cathy, she sent him home on the train. The train, people. And that tells me that Nessa lives a little distance away, perhaps not hours, but in an area enough of a distance from Weatherfield/Manchester to be using faster transport than a bus.

Now, Nessa is working at the salon and is quickly getting her feet under Ken's table. Is she taking the train every day to commute to her job? I know people do that, but there's been no mention of it.

And what about Alex? Nessa is so focussed on Ken that she must be leaving Alex to his own devices pretty much all the time, not just in the daytime while she works, but in her leisure hours, too, because she's with Ken a lot of the time, even overnight, now. But still, no Alex. No messages, no texts. I wonder if she let him know that she wasn't going to be coming home?  She doesn't seem to be the overprotective, anxious mother now. I would love to see Alex come looking for her because she didn't come home and didn't let him know she was safe! Tit for tat, right?

Why isn't Alex invited to a meal now and then with the rest of the Barlow family? What about Christmas? If Nessa is going to be part of the Barlow Christmas, will we see Alex, too? Inquiring minds want to know why the Powers That Be seem to have dropped the ball on this. Alex appears to have been used to introduce Nessa into Ken's world and now he's been forgotten.

When Coronation Street continuity goes wrong

Sorry, it's really not nitpick on Corrie week, honestly it's not. And I maybe the only fan in the world who spotted this continuity error on Friday night's Coronation Street, but spot it I did.

When Carla and Peter were talking wedding plans in Roy's Rolls, Carla handed Peter two sheets of paper, one white sheet and one orange coloured sheet.  The coloured sheet was clearly on the top and the white sheet on the bottom.   Here's Carla handing the two sheets to Peter, orange sheet on top and white sheet underneath.

And here's Peter receiving the sheets from Carla in the next camera shot in the same way, orange sheet on top and white sheet underneath.

But then the camera cuts again to them both, without any break in the dialogue and no time for Peter to change the sheets round and what do we see?  White sheet on top and orange sheet on the bottom.  Carla's necklace which was visible in the shots above has disappeared inside her top, too.

I'll get me coat.

Eva's magic top on Coronation Street

Having just caught up with last night's Coronation Street (from Wednesday 15 May) there's an obvious continuity error which is worth blogging. 

When Eva returned from Ibiza she was wearing an embroided cream top underneath her sparkly jacket.  She then goes into the Bistro where Stella throws her rubber gloves at her, so it wasn't too surprising to see Eva had changed into a different top later on in the episode.

But then later still, her outfit reverted to the first top she had on earlier in the shoot.

Riddle me this, Corrie fans

Following on from the little mysteries needing an answer from the other day, here's another quandary that's been occupying my thoughts.

How on earth did Karl's friend get the biggest satelite dish in the world up that ladder to the roof of the Rovers? And was he expecting to pick up the footie from planet Neptune? Karl must have got that dish for a song because other than sekrit government installations, I doubt anyone uses that size anymore.

And how come the dish was blamed for interfering with Ken's telly and Streetcars' radio? Those things are *receivers* of signals, not senders. (But do correct me if I'm wrong, please and thank you!)

I also applaud St. Ella the Wonderwoman. In a matter of hours, Karl and Tez got that dish up the ladder and installed and they managed to horrify most of the punters and Stella who promptly chased Karl back up the ladder to take it down, and within minutes, removed said ladder and said she'd already sold it on eBay and he could stay there until the buyer came to collect it. It was gone by nightfall. So someone else had to shoulder it back down that flimsy ladder and all!

Sloppy and unbelievable.
