Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 7 Aug 8.30pm

Finding herself in the middle of a modern slavery den, you'd think (after living with Phelan) that Eileen would have seen this coming. Jan admits that the whole relationship scenario has been a lie, yet Nikolai doesn't let her leave the salon and smashes her phone. Pleading with Seb, Abi tells her son to call the police and admit what he knows about Alina's predicament.

Telling Rachel that she knows nothing about their human trafficking gang, Eileen pleads her innocence yet it's all in vain. As Jan is physically attacked by Nikolai, the nail bar is stormed by armed police and everyone is arrested.

Gary confronts Ryan about the missing cash, and Ryan admits he's already spent it on his Copenhagen break with Alya. Deep into his guise as a loan shark, Gary offers clemency to Ryan, but wants the money returned - with interest!  Collared, Ryan admits the truth to Alya.

Carla's post-hot tub Zen is in direct contrast to Roy's busyness, which results in Roy taking a tumble on some spilt beans! With Roy incapacitated, Carla decides to take the helm.

Meanwhile, Emma is suddenly lumbered with Liam, alongside babysitting for Joseph. Reluctant to charge anything for her services, Emma's day off work (when she should be seeing her poorly father), looks to have been totally wasted.

Claudia tells Ken that she's now keeping her flat and plans to move into it. Ken seems pleased with this outcome. Confiding in Rita though, Ken admits he would actually miss her presence at Number one. Rita decides to play cupid and tells the couple to talk it over. It looks like Claudia is staying put on Coronation Street.

At the cop shop, Abi meets Eileen and tells her that Seb was the one who called the police to bust the nail bar. Lamenting Jan's guilt, Eileen appears to laugh in the face of another relationship ending.

She should have seen this coming, right?

Well maybe not.

Inside the jail cell, Paula visits Jan and she tells him he must leave the area, and never see Eileen again. He wasn't part of the criminal slavery gang, after all, he was an undercover informant!

How very poignant. I'm left wondering if Eileen will ever find out?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 7th Aug 7.30pm

Seb's lovelorn hunt for Alina and into the murky world of modern slavery looks to be coming to fruition tonight. With another batch of young Polish ladies destined for slave labour at the nail bar, and Seb still in the hospital, Jan's involvement is undoubtedly clear; but to what extent?

Ryan may have stolen Alya's heart but stealing from Gary might not be the best when trying to raise funds to join her on holiday. With no idea of the money's location, Gary heads to the florist to have a rummage in Mary's drawers (in true 'Carry On Corrie' tradition, of late). Mary professes her innocence and is quick to point the finger in Ryan's direction.

Meanwhile, Sally and Maria invite Carla over for a session in the hot tub. Confiding in her pals, Carla confesses to enjoying the calmer side of life (post-factory) and is even embracing teetotalism. I like it! Meanwhile, morally mischievous Imran is struggling to sell the dodgy flat sale idea to girlfriend Toyah. Bumping into Claudia, the usually caustic redhead is complimentary to Toyah, and it isn't long before she admits the truth about Imran's duplicitous behaviour. Later at the Rovers,  Claudia confronts Imran and admits she knows the truth. Angry at her 'betrayal', Imran wonders whether he and Toyah are suited as a couple after all.

At Roy's Rolls BFF's Emma and Gemma are enjoying a fry-up, and Peter hopes to win round Carla, after the Whatsapp mishap.  Meanwhile, Emma offers to look after a glowing Gemma by treating her to a meal at the bistro. Later, Gemma lets down Emma as she has to go out with Chesney, and quickly ropes her into babysitting Joseph. Emma admits that she had planned to see her dad in hospital but as ever, Emma agrees to do Gemma the favour.

Confronting Ryan at Speed Daal, Gary threatens the DJ when he plays it innocent over the stolen cash. A definite threat, in fact. Later at Speed Daal, Alya tells Gary about her Copenhagen break with Ryan, and the proverbial penny (or £650 to be precise), drops.

Back at Eileen's, Jan has returned from his overnight trip, and Eileen is quick for answers about his disappearance and his involvement in Seb's trip to hospital.  Denying all knowledge, Jan is quick to another disappearing act back to 'Birmingham'.

Finally displaying some of her bullish tenacity (that has recently been hidden), Eileen follows Jan and finds him at the nail bar. With Rachael and Nikolai also at the nail bar, is Eileen now in danger?.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 17 July 8.30pm

In tonight's second episode, Gary faces questioning from the police and plays a pretty mean poker face. Finding out about Nick's alibi though, it looks like he may have to play a different card...

At The Rovers, Maria's date is interrupted by the fella's mother!. Making her (fake) excuses, she swiftly leaves. Moira hopes to pick up Maria's sloppy seconds but doesn't have any luck either.

Beth is still grumpy about the majority shares decision, retreats from the factory, and tells Kirk that she'd like to sell her certificate for a holiday instead. Later, and working her way back into the factory fold, Beth doesn't tell Sarah that she's planning on selling. She then decides to play Sean against Paul in seeing who will buy it first.

Meanwhile, Seb queries Alina's sudden disinterest, and Jan tells him to forget about her. As Paula bumps into Eileen, Jan gives the solicitor a knowing gaze. Is there a history between the two?. Later, at the nail salon, Jan visits Alina and tells her to stay away from Seb as it's too risky.  Just what is going on here?.

At the corner shop, Evelyn tells Tyrone and Michelle that she thinks Roy fancies her and that's why she wants him to leave. Protesting that Roy is a sexual predator, Tyrone tells his Nan to curb her behaviour or she will be the one leaving the house.

Over a coffee, Maria confides in Michelle about her dating disasters, telling her that Ali has been a great confidante.

The police interrogate Gary further telling him they have intelligence of his dealings with Rick. As he isn't arrested, Gary is free to go but unfortunately, he doesn't see Rick's daughter Kelly heading into the cop shop reception. Back at The Rovers,  Gary threatens Imran, believing it was the solicitor who shopped him to the police. At that moment, Sarah walks in and admits that she called the cops on him. In the beer garden, Sarah explains her decision to Gary, who in turn fiercely protests his (faux) innocence.

Later on, Gary bumps into Sharon who tells him that Kelly has been to see the police about Rick's disappearance.

I don't know about a poker face, I think Gary may need a new set of cards!!.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 17 July 7.30pm

Man-eating Maria's ravenous appetite is still starving, so Emma sets her up on another internet date.
Will this lunchtime get-together fare any better for our favourite stylist?

Talking of romance, Eileen is easily bought by Jan's gift of flowers. With Seb sulking about Alina dumping him, Eileen hides her newest (dodgy builder) relationship from her lonesome lodger.

Sarah gifts the factory girls with their official share certificates and thoughts turn to sun-kissed holidays. Dreams are soon dashed though, as she tells the girls that if they want to rebuild the factory, they will need to invest their shares into some building work. The insurance won't be any time soon as the factory collapse and investigation is still ongoing (where is the report!?).

Speaking of which, Sarah's suspicions about Gary's involvement in the roof collapse has Adam's conscience pricked. With news of Nick's innocence reaching the solicitor, Adam decides to tell Imran his suspicions and Sarah questions Gary about the voicemail message. Adam decides it's time the police were called, yet surprisingly, Sarah still has her doubts.

Rocked by the sudden reappearance of Rick's lackey, Sharon, Gary spins her the same story he told Rick's daughter. However, murder is the least of his worries, as the police collect him from Coronation Street, to question him about the roof collapse.

Settling into Tyrone's, Roy is having a busman's holiday by making a fry up for Ty. However, Evelyn's backache has spoiled her appetite. Ed relays the news that the Roy's Rolls could be closed for weeks =, and Evelyn protests (perhaps a bit too much) about Roy staying any longer.

Meeting in the Rovers, the workers unite and discuss whether to stick or twist with their share options. As votes are counted, the majority agree to spend their cash on getting the factory re-built (no 'love island' for Beth or Kirk then). Also in the Rovers, Moira flirts outrageously with Jan, only for Eileen to finally tell the her that SHE is dating him... just as Seb walks in!

Out on her date, Maria's match appears to be a bit of a Mummy's boy who talks with a posh accent!.

I can't see this going well, can you?.
