Mick (Joe Layton) and Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) are leaving Coronation Street this summer.
A Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed the news, telling RadioTimes.com: "This is not a shock exit or an early exit. Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build-up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt.
"Joe and Farrell were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer."

Nothing against the actors, who have done a sterling job with dire material, but these were horrible, badly written characters and I for one will be glad to see the back of them. I imagine Tim and Sally are going to end up adopting the girls (Laverne and Shirley?) but I do hope Brody leaves too. I suspect he's going to become Betsy's new beau.
That's what I got from this as well - this was an 'entry' story for the girls and Sally and Tim's fostering story.
Brody can go to as far as I'm concerned.

I can't see Tim and Sally adopting the girls. Temporary fostering, maybe but the couple must be approaching their sixties and Tim has a history of heart problems.
I would have thought that there would be be an age cut off point for prospective parents who want to adopt. The youngest child looks about 4.
Surely social services would look for a younger couple instead?
From a practical point of view, it would be more suitable.
To be honest, I think Tim wanting to foster is all about how he couldn't save Mason. When he's dealt with that, he'll no longer want to foster.
I also fear that Brody will stick around, ripe to be rehabilitated. I wouldn't miss Betsy either.
Good riddance - two of the most unpleasant characters the show has ever presented.
Many characters have short term contracts initially as a type of trial period. It's obvious that these 2 were not successful - we definitely do not need this type of people now or in the future. Corrie is losing enough viewers as it is!
