Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 14th April

ABI - CARL - KEVIN - CORONATION STREET - ITV

I thought when Abi was going to meet a flirtatious stranger who turned out to be her brother in law, he'd be a handsome flirtatious stranger who turned out to be her brother in law. This gaunt sex pest is not my idea of fun. Carl is supposed to take Kev to the hospital but he doesn't turn up until later and then ruins Abi and Kev's film afternoon by taking his bro to the pub. Abi admits that Carl was the person who rear-ended her, but not that they flirted with each other in the romantic environs of Freshco's car park.

Back at the borstal STC, Brody gets Dylan to locate one of the other inmates in order to find Sean's phone number in Dylan's cell room and then rings him to demand £500.

At number 9, Romania's cutest kid goes off for the afternoon with Granny Cass. I wouldn't quite trust her not to leave Doran at the Red Rec if Steve sent her a sext. As we all suspected would happen, Doran is now living with Fizrone for a bit longer as Alina is still looking after her mum. What's the betting that a grizzly fate is about to befall our fave nail technician?

THEO - TODD - CORONATION STREET - ITV

A tired Todd isn't having a great day as Theo, Mrs Theo, and their heavily eyebrowed children turn up at the funeral parlour. Theo tries to apologise but Todd's having none of it.

A mugger snatches Sarah's phone and Kit, instead of chasing after him, shows him his badge. Excellent police work there D.C. Green. Nonetheless, Sarah is impressed and agrees to go on a date with him. I hope she's going to bring her own stepladder.

DEBBIE - ABI - KEVIN - CARL - JACK - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Debbie goes to the memory clinic where she goes through a number of tests. Once the specialist says that it's a life limiting disease, Debbie gathers the extended Webster family to tell them that life is for living and she's going to marry Ronnie, but doesn't tell anyone about the dementia diagnosis, although Carl sees the letter from the hospital in her bag.

And Jenny tells Daisy that they have no choice but to sign over the deeds to Carla, forgetting to say to her stepdaughter that she is buying the Rovers sans Daisy, who is (according to Carla) an "untrustworthy liability". An untrustworthy liability who still doesn't show any sign of actually leaving, despite Christina's evil plotting.

Great review. I agree about Carl and I too, wonder what Abbie sees in him. Just a tiny point that I've mentioned before- wouldn't the most natural people to take a huge interest in Lalia be Joel's parents? They wanted to adopt Frankie so why no interest in Lalia, especially when Dee Dee wants the baby to be adopted? Yest somehow they've faded away into the background.

I've always liked Daisy but I do wish she'd hurry up and leave. it's very hard to care about any of this stuff when we know she's leaving, and she's turning into a horrible character that I'll be glad to see the back of.

Jenny's personality transplant is complete, she has turned into a scheming selfish cow, and Daisy has reverted to type...she is exactly the person that we first saw on screen when she arrived and not the person we've come to like the past couple of years.
Sarah has gone back to her alley cat ways.....someone should have warned Kitten...er....Kit..no surprise there then, it was only a matter of time.
Debbie we love ya darlin'..marry Ronnie, live the life, but for heavens sake tell him at least.
The rest was okay....I guess.

Carl's spontaneous, over-riding obsession with Abi is just more lazy, poorly paced, unbelievable material from the writers and producer. He doesn't know her, she's not strikingly gorgeous, and she's his brother's wife! Why would he embark on such a relentless pursuit unless he suffered from a mental health issue similar to Daisy's stalker? Even hard core womanizers don't act as he does. He can't say a word without a sexual innuendo or knowing smirk. As for Abi--okay, as a tired, hassled woman she enjoyed a little banter with an "attractive" man in the parking lot and liked feeling desirable. But surely Carl's behaviour now would just repel her--the way he keeps intentionally touching her or brushing her and standing in her space? Yuck! Can't believe Corrie writers still think that's sexually irresistible behavior from men, instead of a turn off; it plays out like an 80's Harlequin Romance.

I agree. If they fancied the pants off each other, it would be more subtle. Avoiding their presence, a flirty, rushed look, feeling awkward and embarrassed when they seek you out and talk, especially about their love life. It doesn't have to be in your face Benny hill smirking and leering. Abbey getting cross with him is a rom- com cliche and it doesn't work.
It's just silly. This is Corrie in 2025 - it's not a 1950's Doris day film.
Oh and why has Todd got the gorgeous looking, six foot hunk as a love interest and Abbey has been given a gaunt, skinny, hard- faced, rough looking fella?
