Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 14th October

LISA - KIT - CORONATION STREET - ITV

I don't usually approve of workplace bullying but D.C Kit calling Craig "Tinks" and "Henry Tinkler" and sending him round every car park in a ten mile radius made me laugh. The cops check out CCTV at Mossford station and spot Joel's dad taking something from a locker, They bring him in and he says he paid for a year's rent for a flat in Flint (Wales) but Kit tells him they've seen that he's been back to the locker a few times and Joel never picked up the keys.

Meanwhile, a group of lads, only one of whom is allowed to speak, are fishing and find a corpse in the river.....

The body is quickly identified as Joel's and D.C Kit opens up a murder investigation. It's gotta be Swain hasn't it? She's been acting very shifty and not open to the idea that Joel might still be alive. I reckon she met him up with him just before he disappeared and threatened him, telling him to leave Weatherfield. He decided to fake his death but then she attacked him (motive: he threatened Betsy). It can't really be Lauren as she stands over Frankie's cot in the NICU about 23 hours a day, only leaving to shout at Betsy, then returns for more standing.

Daniel speaks to Bethany, who is laying in a hospital bed in Corrie

Sarah's distress at Bethany's situation has led to her having a go at all and sundry including accusing a) Adam and b) Daniel of stealing Damon's money (whilst at the same time nicking magazines from the salon). It might be a boring scene, but it'd be helpful for Bethany to have a chat with a stoma nurse - if Corrie is going to be issues driven, then it'd be useful to show the reality of the situation (no eating sweetcorn!) rather than it just being about Bethany dumping Daniel. Daisy rocks up to persuade Beffany to get back with Dannyboy, which turns out to work and they're an item once again.

Stu in Corrie, played by Bill Fellows

The irony is that Stu's relationship with Mason (I am quite invested in The Redemption of Radcliffe) has made me more enamoured of Boring Stu, a character I've always disliked (no disrespect to the actor) and now he's gone, off to Germany to live with Eliza and poundshop John Simm. Mason says he's got  job at a garden centre, but he'll be back, won't he? He does rock that Speed Daal t-shirt, and Yasmeen has trouble keeping staff.

Meanwhile, an attractive young lady is developing a kidney complaint ordering cappuccini and day drinking pinot grigio in the Bistro in order to chat up Nick. Again, no disrespect to the actor but I'm not really sure what everyone sees in Mr Tilsley. Sam warns her off because he's an irritating little git.

Gaddas the badass is 'round to diagnose Hope with a chest infection, caused by the vaping. Let this be a lesson to you, tweens! Now that Grange Hill is no longer on TV, we need Corrie to tell us of the dangers of everyday items. More importantly, forget Swarla, when are Dr G and Headteach Mrs C (couple name: Crawas) going to get together?

Finally, Jesse claims that Gail is going to get him a key cut for number 8. I do wonder when Sean Wilson/Martin Platt dropped out, how many other characters the writers went through before landing on Jesse? If they're bringing back characters from that era, I vote for Madonna Grimes.
