Where have you seen Richie O'Driscoll before?

If you're wondering where you've seen Richie O'Driscoll before, then wonder no more.  Richie is played by actor James Midgley and he's been on Coronation Street a few times before.

James has appeared in Corrie in three roles within law enforcement.  He played PC Harper who arrested a drunken Curly Watts in December 2000. 

He also played DC Roundsmith assigned to the investigation of the robbery at 5 Grasmere Drive in June 2009 and DS Smith who in November and December of the same year, investigated the allegations of Tony Gordon's involvement in the murder of Liam Connor.

Other acting credits include roles in Where the Heart Is, Cold Feet, North Square, Emmerdale, Donovan, Cutting It, Northern Lights, Heartbeat, The Bill and Casualty.

He is married to the TV presenter Jenni Falconer.

Beverley Callard pays tribute to Anne Kirkbride

There's a wonderful tribute to Anne Kirkbride in today's Guardian. It's written by Anne's Coronation Street co-star, and friend, Beverley Callard, who plays Liz McDonald in the show.

Beverley calls Anne her "work sister" and says that Anne never once blew a take or fluffed a line on set.

Preview of tonight's double Corrie - Monday 28 December

Monday 28th December
IT’S D DAY FOR JOHNNY Johnny receives an email which leaves him reeling. After confiding in Liz she advises he come clean to his family. Carla’s about to set off for an evening out with Roy when Johnny ambushes her and insisting they have to talk, drags her back to his flat. Carla’s concerned.
TRACY SEES ROB’S TRUE COLOURS Having spent the night at No.5, Tracy confides in Beth that she still loves Rob and intends to make their relationship work. Tracy visits Rob in prison and tears a strip off him for his handling of Robert. Tracy assures Rob that she wants to be with him and Robert is history. But is this what Rob wants to hear?
KEN RIDES INTO THE DISTANCE Ken’s thrown when he receives a letter addressed to Ken and Deirdre Barlow. Putting it to one side, Ken sets off on his first bike ride with Nessa.
ELSEWHERE Whilst Fiz excitedly discusses her wedding plans with Billy, Tyrone does his best to hide his anxiety. Emily asks Norris for the password to his computer so she can email Spider in Peru. Norris is cagey leaving Emily bemused. As Aidan announces the ping-pong team, Carla reminds him of the importance of landing the O’Driscoll contract. Aidan assures her he plans to lose the tournament. Carla asks Sally to keep an eye on Aidan and make sure O’Driscolls win and sign the deal.

Monday 28th December
CARLA DISCOVERS THE TRUTH ABOUT JOHNNY Johnny pours Carla a drink whilst psyching himself up to break the news. Unnerved by Johnny’s demeanour, Carla begs him to tell her what’s bothering him. Johnny finally breaks his silence and drops a bombshell that leaves Carla reeling. When Carla demands to know why he’s suddenly decided to reveal his secret now, Johnny admits that Rob’s been blackmailing him. Carla’s appalled. Meanwhile Roy’s annoyed when Carla fails to show up and he misses watching the chess match. As Carla apologises to Roy for letting him down, Johnny approaches and begs her not to spill the beans to Aidan and Kate.
THE RUG’S PULLED FROM UNDER TRACY’S FEET Rob drops the bombshell on Tracy that he’s been leading her up the garden path, there is no appeal, he simply wanted to ruin her life as she did his. Tracy storms out in tears. Tracy calls in the bistro and lying through her teeth, begs Robert for another chance, telling him how she was never in love with Rob, it was all in his head. Will Robert take her back?
KEN GETS BACK IN THE SADDLE When Michelle takes a call from Ken to say that Nessa has fallen off her bike and injured her ankle, Audrey sets off to rescue them. Ken admits to Audrey that the cycling wasn’t nearly as exhausting as Nessa’s conversation and Audrey senses a glimmer of hope.
ELSEWHERE The ping-pong tournament takes place at Underworld. With the scores level pegging, Aidan and Richie O’Driscoll play the deciding match. Will Aidan follow Carla’s instructions and let Richie win the match? Emily proudly tells Rita and Norris how Spider is working in an orphanage in Peru.

Corrie weekly awards: Dec. 21 - 25

A little bit late this week but I've only just got caught up on Christmas Corrie and it was awesome!

Holiday spirit award: Kevin for his reindeer antlers! And all the neighbours pulling together to decorate the street!

The only game in town award: Anna and Kevin are both on a date with new people. Both at the Bistro because you know, it's the only place in Weatherfield in spite of the city centre of Manchester being not a million miles away.

Dating fail: Anna's date only stopped talking about his ex-wife when he started talking about himself, non stop. Kevin's date was more nervous than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Hypocrite award: Robert. It's ok to insist that Tracy tells the truth but it didn't take much for him to lie when Rob asked him not to tell Tracy he called.

He's A Very Naughty Boy: It wasn't murder, it was just a mistake. Tracy, luv, you would know all about that!

Santa's little helper: David ended up being festooned with lights!

If You Can't Be With the One You Love, Love the One You're With: Tracy Barlow for juggling two Rob/erts.

Curb Your Enthusiasm award: Sinead was less than enthusiastic about her holiday in Portugal though did try to hide it.

Second Best award: Mary's looking forward to Brendan's treat of a two course extravaganza in a posh hotel (somehow I doubt that a posh hotel would put something as cheap as that on for Christmas Day)

You did NOT go there award: The garden center name was Lady Garden.

Rubbish Gifts: Chesney gave Sinead a chopper. Mary gave Emily and Norris a disco exercise DVD. Tim gave Sally gardening implements.

Christmas is for kids award: For the amount of little kids on that Street, it seemed odd that the only ones around Santa for quite awhile were Ruby and Hope. What about Jack? Jake? They should have taken Lily out there before she fell asleep and it was ages before Max went out.

Musical wind up: Todd playing Torn Between Two Lovers for Tracy in the pub.

Phrase of Doom award: Carla is content with Nick and thinks Nick can save her. That's the kiss of death just like Kylie said. It'll be about 5 minutes before Carla shoots herself in the stiletto. Another bad omen for Carla was her telling her wish for 2016 out loud when she found the lucky coin in the Christmas pudding. Oh dear.
