Preview of tonight's double Coronation Street - Fri 2 May

FRIDAY 2ND MAY 2014 at 7.30pm
MADDIE TAKES MATTERS INTO HER OWN HANDS Sophie arrives home to find Maddie with Ben. Maddie tells her she has permission from Ben’s foster parents to take him for the day and suggests to Sophie that they adopt Ben. However, Sophie’s shocked when the police call round looking for Maddie and Ben. How will Maddie explain?
KAL AND LEANNE ARE FORCED TO FACE REALITY Having spent the night together, Kal and Leanne have to hide in the bedroom when Nick calls round with a cinema flyer. Eva spins him a story telling him Leanne had to go out but when Nick later tells Kal that he’s taking Leanne to the cinema will Kal be able to keep up the lie?
MARCUS’ RETURN UPSETS MARIA FURTHER An apologetic Fiz invites Maria round for tea, but when Maria later sees Marcus back on the street, Tyrone has to drag a screaming Maria away.
ELSEWHERE Sinead is filled with dread when Chesney asks her to wear her new dress and Lloyd catches Steve red in the face and carrying his gym bag.

FRIDAY 2ND MAY 2014 at 8.30pm
MADDIE’S ACTIONS CAUSE RUCTIONS Realising Maddie’s done a runner, Sophie runs out and spots her breaking into Mary’s Motorhome. Following her and Ben in, she talks sense into Maddie and persuades her she’s only making matters worse by snatching Ben. But as they leave, the police pounce and in the confusion both Sophie and Maddie are arrested. Has Sophie had enough of Maddie’s ways?
KAL AND LEANNE MAKE A HUGE SACRIFICE Eva tells Leanne she’s being horribly unfair after going to the cinema with Nick and tells her to tell him the truth. Not wanting to hurt Nick’s feelings, Kal and Leanne make a huge sacrifice...
SINEAD LET’S HER SELF CONSCIOUSNESS TAKE OVER Chesney and Sinead arrive for dinner in the bistro and Sinead’s horrified to find she’s wearing the same dress as Katy. Worried she’s not as attractive as Katy, Sinead gets drunk and causes a scene.
ELSEWHERE Tim tells Sally he’s going to stay at a mate’s as they’re just not suited, Steve and Lloyd bicker over their fitness prowess and Tyrone tells Fiz that Maria is too upset to come for tea.

Your Corrie ups and downs in 2014

Two simple questions to ask: first of all, what's keeping you watching Corrie at the moment? And what's driving you mad? All long running programmes have their ups and downs, but us loyal Coronation Street viewers keep watching, clinging on to those moments that still make it so special.

What's good and what's bad in Corrie will always be hotly debated amongst Corrie fans, so I want to find out what's getting you excited and what's making your blood boil in 2014.

For me, the long, ongoing storyline involving the Windass-Armstrongs as well as the Peter/Tina fiasco are dragging Corrie down. Too many stories are allowed to roll on endlessly these days until all momentum has been lost. I miss the short, sweet comedy stories of yesteryear. They may not have been explosive or dramatic but they symbolise what is great about Corrie.

I think the Roy and Hayley storyline was beautifully written and performed and Hayley is most definitely missed. I also think the move to the new studios and set at Media City has been very well handled both on and off screen.

I also loved the short scene recently which saw Rita, Emily, Audrey and Deirdre having a drink together in the Rovers. It was a fairly brief, unimportant scene in the narrative of that episode but it highlighted two things for me. Firstly, that these four brilliant Corrie legends are still with the show after all these years and this should be celebrated.

Secondly, the scene struck me particularly because it seems so rare these days to see so many legends together, sharing scenes like that. More please.

So anyway, over to you. Let's have your Corrie positives and negatives so far in 2014.

Fat Brenda missed off list of Sexiest 100 Women in the World

Coronation Street cab operative Fat Brenda has been missed out again in the rankings for the Sexiest 100 Women in the World.

Corrie's Michelle Keegan  is the highest ranking British name in the list, and is runner-up overall.  If you care about such things, the list is here.

We contacted Fat Brenda for a quote but she was drowning her sorrows with a cup of Mellow Birds and a Dunhill.   Follow her on the tweeter at @fatbrenda.

Watch: Nick Tilsley, he laughs like a girl

In last night's Coronation Street there were a few scenes with Nick, Leanne, Eva and Kal in the Bistro.

At one point, Leanne was giggling in that way that she does and the camera panned to Nick's face.  They were talking about Deirdre and little Simon reading the Harry Potter books and Deirdre being scared of Simon doing the Voldemort voice.

Leanne's giggle  was only for a second but it made me chuckle as the camera was on Nick's face when the giggle came out of Leanne's mouth  It appeared as if Nick was giggling with Leanne's voice.  Have a look and see what I mean, it's here on the ITV Player at exactly 16.23 (second half of the episode).
