Carla's had little sleep after the disastrous memorial confession, her only ally now is Peter. Uncharacteristically, Roy has lost faith in Carla and is struggling to handle the duplicity of her truth bomb. When Wayne visits the cafe, he lets Roy know that a lead has suddenly arisen in the factory investigation.
At the Platts', Nick chases Gary's paper trail in hope of hiding any sufficient evidence in pinning the roof collapse on the builder. Meanwhile, Gary receives a text from Rick whilst Nick pays Carla a visit and makes a vaguely undisguised threat. Is Nick covering his own back?
Still smarting from Gemma's April Fools prank, Chesney is starting to get find his latest love a little irksome. Matrimonial bliss it is not, but is the domesticity starting to wear thin? Still feeling in the mood for japes post-April 1st, Gemma has only just started.
At the Kabin, Brian is getting engrossed in Radio Weatherfield's latest quiz, his knowledge of Donna Summer is slightly surprising. Cathy tells Gemma that Brian is a radio quiz hound and has been banned from several stations. Hatching a late April Fool at the kebab shop, Gemma plays the radio quiz in Brian's place, little realising she's being pitted against Mary. Chesney isn't impressed at Gemma's cheating.
Meanwhile, Geoff reveals that he's growing veg for Yasmeen and gloats that his crop is ready to ripe.
Distracted from radio quizzes by customers paper complaints, Brian offers Paul a new job - as a paperboy! Billy offers Paul some support, evidently besotted, and little to do with Summer's obvious matchmaking. Meanwhile, Nick tells Paul that Underworld's days look doomed.
Also, looking doomed is Kate, as she shares lucid dreams of Rana to Michelle in the Rovers back room. Peter's sudden appearance riles Kate and he begs Michelle to not involve the police, but it's too late; Kate has already made the call. Defending Carla's fragile emotional state, Peter tells her that Kate is fine with everything, and fails to get her to flee before the police arrive. Before we know it, Carla is marched off by the police and is arrested on gross negligence manslaughter charges.
At the station, Carla admits that she knew the roof was badly damaged and tells them that 'Jim / John' told her that it was hazardous. Blatantly lying about the mysterious builder, she admits the truth and takes Rana's death as her own Murder, whilst readily exonerating Gary in the process.
Is Carla heading to jail?
