Coronation Street: a bunch of Muppets

I missed Flaming Nora’s blog post last week about the Warburton’s Christmas advert, and I saw the ad for the first time last night. I’m trying to cut down on bread so I hope it’s the first and last time I see it, but it was great to know some of Hollywood’s biggest stuffed stars are Corrie fans.

It also got me wondering what Corrie would look like if the characters were replaced with muppets. In some cases, I’m sure you’ll agree, we wouldn’t know the difference...

Beth Tinker                                                                  Miss Piggy

                              Ken Barlow                                                        Sam the Eagle

                                         Norris Cole                                   Dr Bunsen Honeydew

                               Roy Cropper                                                        Guy Smiley

                                Rowlf the Dog                                                       Fiz

                                   Janice                                                                   Erica

                                          Kermit the Frog                                     Gail McIntyre

And my favourite...

Rita & Mavis

      Zobi & Kami

Can you think of any other Muppet / Corrie likenesses?

Who knew? The Muppets are Coronation Street fans!

I love this new telly advert from Warburtons, not least because it's to advertise their latest product, a giant crumpet. I know! A Giant Crumpet!

In the advert, the Muppets sing the praises of Warburtons and the new giant crumpet. Warburtons are a Bolton-based company and the new advert contains a lot of references to the north-west, Coronation Street even gets a mention.  It's a lot of fun and you can watch it via the wonders of YouTube, below.

Coronation Street toast stamps go on sale for charity

With Warburtons as one of the Coronation Street's brand partners for the 50th anniversary, they've launched a limited edition range of Corrie toast stamps which were unveiled by Jenni McAlpine, who plays Fiz Brown.

The exclusive toast stamps will be available to buy on eBay for a limited time only with all proceeds going to The Coronation Street 50th Anniversary Appeal supporting three charities voted for by the cast; The NSPCC and Cancer Research UK and The Christie.

Each set of three toast stamps includes the infamous three flying ducks that once hung on Hilda Ogden’s wall, the instantly recognisable Coronation Street sign and, of course, the legendary Rove’s Return pub window pane. Simply press your favourite image on to your bread of choice, pop it into the toaster and, hey presto - your very own ‘slice of Corrie life’!

So if you’re jumping at the chance to get your hands on one of these fantastic limited edition sets, simply visit eBay at http://bit.ly/toaststamps. And remember that all of the proceeds will be going to The Coronation Street 50th Anniversary Appeal.

Also up for grabs on eBay with proceeds going to charity are exclusive “Corrie-Wood Boulevard” hand prints of some of the show’s actors including Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor), William Roach (Ken Barlow) and Keith Duffy (Ciaran McCarthy), which have been immortalised in Warburtons bread dough. For more details simply visit the eBay auction at: http://bit.ly/warburtonscollectables

Win a trip to the Corrie set with Typhoo and Warburtons

Coronation Street's 50th brand partners Typhoo and Warburtons have teamed up to create a nationwide campaign to get the nation hosting Tea & Toast Mornings to raise money for charity - and the host to raise the most will win a trip to the Coronation Street set.

All you have to do is cater purely for your guests with the classic food combination and in return for toast and a cuppa, guests are asked to bring a donation, however big or small, which will go to the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS). A really worthy charity raising money to make sport more accessible for disabled people.
