Aunty Pam - did anyone ever like her?

Is there anyone out there who actually likedCoronation Street's Aunty Pam (played by Kate Anthony)?

Me, I could't stand the character. I've never liked her. She's nosey, a know-all who can't keep her trap shut for five minutes, and hides her own bitterness under a sanctimonious paper-thin veneer of: "I'm a down to earth woman who's only telling it like it is".

I really liked Bill Webster and in my opinion he deserves far better than this ghastly shrieking shrew. And what about that heart attack! One minute Pam is preaching about salad and stress levels, and the next she's increasing his stress by opening her relentless gob and having a go at anyone within a ten mile radius. No wonder he keeled over like a felled tree.

She couldn't let it lie, could she? She had to keep on venting her spleen even at Bill's hospital bed-side.

Nope. I can't stand the woman. Anyone else have any views on Auntie Pam?

Bill Webster to return to Corrie

Bill is set to return to Corrie with Auntie Pam in September, according to The Mirror. The couple's reason for being off screen will be that they have been travelling, and have now returned to marry. Although Pam will apparently ban Kevin from the wedding, which causes Bill to suffer a heart attack.

I'm looking forward to the pair returning, it was a bad decision to axe them in the first place, with Auntie Pam returning, we will have another link back to Molly.

The return of Auntie Pam to Coronation Street

Good news for fans of Auntie Pam – she’s returning to the cobbles later this year.

Pam Hobsworth, played by Kate Anthony, has been missing off-screen since December, last seen attending niece Molly’s funeral.

We’d resigned her to the Weatherfield Missing Persons List, especially after the axing of partner Bill Webster. Fear not though, Inside Soap has revealed she’ll be returning to the Street in September.

She’ll be clashing with another Street regular, and will also have some ‘big news’ to share.

Fantastic news, I’d say!

This is a picture of a smug, selfish head

It was a Daran Little written episode and, to paraphrase, "it is marvellous in our eyes". Daran always writes really good stuff and this was more of the same. Our blogger Yoork is Captain of Team Pam and most of the people watching last night probably are too, me included! If she were the subject of a grand, Biblical painting, she'd be Salome with the head of Kevin Webster on a plate, such was the result of her tearing several strips off him with the oily hands. She had him bang to rights, and really nailed it. Middle aged, bored, looking for spice. Molly flirts with him and he jumps in with both feet so she, young, bored and looking for spice, jumps in after him. As much as they keep saying they love each other, Molly thinks naively it's all going to work out and they'll be together forever.

I'm watching and thinking, 'Kevin, you know damn well you're never going to leave Sally'. If he had his druthers, he'd never tell Sally. You can tell by the way he accused her of telling Pam on purpose to force the issue. He's all talk and empty promises and Molly's going to wear it when it blows up, far more than Kevin if it's true that she's going to end up pregnant in a cliche, yet classic soap "Who's the Daddy" plot. Not that she has my sympathy. If you will remember, she's the one that started it all with a flirt or two which is typical Molly. She didn't take it seriously until he did and he certainly did, and did all the subsequent chasing but I wonder if, when it comes out, Kevin will blame it on her?

Aunty Pam - Corrie's Marmite character

Marmite. You either love it you don't, so they say, and judging by the comments left on the blog, views on Aunty Pam are much the same. Some of you love her, and some of you agree with those over at the Guardian talkboard. Ooh, I wouldn't dare tell you what they call her over there. What is it about Aunty Pam that you either love, or you don't?
