Comparethemarket.com is Coronation Street's new sponsor

Seemples!

Comparethemarket.com is to become the sponsor of Coronation Street, replacing furniture store Harveys.

ITV Commercial today announced that comparethemarket.com will be the new sponsor of Coronation Street.

The fully integrated three-year sponsorship package was negotiated by ITV Commercial and Newcast, ZenithOptimedia's sponsorship and content division, on behalf of comparethemarket.com. The exclusive on and off-air partnership will include broadcast, online, mobile and licensing elements, bringing both brands to as many fans as possible.

Coronation Street is the UK’s most popular soap, sitting at the heart of ITV1’s peak time schedule, attracting an average audience of 9.4m viewers for each of its five episodes every week. In 2012 a peak audience of 12.5million viewers, or a massive 45% of the available TV audience, tuned in on January 23rd to watch Becky McDonald’s dramatic exit from the show.

Simon Daglish, Group Commercial Director, ITV said: “We are delighted to be working with comparethemarket.com as a partner for Coronation Street. This is a long-term commitment from both parties around two of the most exciting and loved brands in the UK, which we believe will become the benchmark for partnerships going forward."

Paul Galligan, Managing Director of comparethemarket.com said: “Coronation Street is one of Britain’s most entertaining and best loved TV shows and so we are delighted to be partnering with such a prestigious programme. We will be working closely with ITV to ensure this is a model partnership, utilising both on and off-air opportunities to take our brands to customers in new and exciting ways.”

Paul Constantine, Managing Partner at ZenithOptimedia said: "Coronation Street is the jewel in the crown of the ITV schedule and we are extremely pleased to have secured this partnership for comparethemarket.com in this highly competitive sector."

Coronation Street looking for new sponsor

Harveys: furniture retailer to end sponsorship of Coronation StreetHarveys the Furniture Store are ending their sponsorship of Coronation Street after five years. Five years? Has it really been that long, it's flown over!

Anyway, this means that Corrie are now looking for a new sponsor to annoy us with their ads before, during and after our favourite soap.

Stephen Campbell, managing director at furniture retailer Harveys, said: "Over the last five years, 'Coronation Street' has been a fantastic alignment for us, but we feel the time has come to look for something new. However, having contemplated long and hard about continuing with 'Coronation Street', we felt it would be a good time to do something different and we are currently considering a number of options."

Harveys' sponsorship will end in January 2013.

Your chance to star in Coronation Street scene

As part of Coronation Street's 50th celebrations, the soap's sponsors, Harveys the furniture store, have launched a unique competition asking fans to give their own performance of classic Corrie scripts.

There's plenty of time to enter the competition by calling into any Harvey's stores to perform the scripts on one of their sofas, or uploading a video of your performance of one of the three scripts, with all details on the website http://www.harveysfurniture.co.uk/coronationstreet.

You can also email your clip to castingcouch@harvey-furnishings.co.uk

All entries will be monitored to ensure they follow the scene exactly, and that they are in no way offensive before going live on the website. The public will then get the chance to view and vote for their favourite clips, with deadlines for entries November 7, to decide who wins the dream prize of a day in the fictional world of Weatherfield.
