Coronation Street now available on BritBox in America

News reaches us that Coronation Street is being made available in the USA the day after it airs in the UK.

But you have to pay for it.

American Corrie fans can already watch Coronation Street on Hulu.  Now, subscription service BritBox is making new Corrie episodes from the UK available within 24 hours .

BritBox costs $6.99 per month after an introductory free trial period.

Soumya Sriraman, president of BritBox, said: "Coronation Street has been the most requested show for our service, and we know that subscribers and fans will jump for joy now that BritBox not only has the series, but will be running them stateside hours after viewers get to see them in the U.K.”

Good news for Coronation Street fans in America

There's good news for Coronation Street fans in America - Coronation Street's back on TV!

Corrie was being shown by Hulu but was taken off air in April last year. You can read more on that here.

The removal of Corrie from the list of programmes available to watch via Hulu sparked online protests and outright rage. And who can blame Corrie fans for being so upset?  I'd be the same if it went off line here in the UK without warning and for no reason.

Well, there's good news now - it's back on air!

The Hulu.com website for Coronation Street says that  episodes of Corrie shown in the USA are approx. three weeks behind those shown in the UK.  But hey, three weeks late is better than none at all.  Good news indeed, y'all!

Coronation Street taken off air in America

There's sad news for Coronation Street fans in America who are no longer able to watch their favourite show via Hulu.

With thanks to Corrie fan Flo in the USA for alerting us to this. It appears that Hulu is not showing any more new episodes of Coronation Street.

The Hulu.com website for Coronation Street states: "New episodes will be unavailable as of April 7th, 2016" .

Hulu has been showing Coronation Street in the USA since 2013. Fans have taken to social media to complain but as yet, there is no statement on the Hulu website to say if Coronation Street will be back in the US, or not.

Coronation Street comes to America, with Hulu

Hulu, an American video on demand site has announced that Coronation Street is now available to watch on their service.

American pace will be two weeks behind the current episodes. This will be welcome news to fans in the US who have been stuck without a proper way to watch Corrie.

Also worth noting is that ITV have recently begun counting Coronation Street episodes in seasons, which may have been done to make the episode count (currently Ep. 8040) less threatening.

Coronation Street Blogger joins American TV podcast

There's a podcast based out of Seattle, Washington, USA that's all about British TV shows and it's run by "Ryan and Chrissy". This week's program features Coronation Street's 50th anniversary and Ryan has interviewed several Corrie fans in North America. He's got two American fans and had a long chat with a Canadian fan as well. That would be me!

It's show number 62 and it goes online today (the Corrie bit starts about 13 minutes in but it's a few minutes past that for my bit) on their website. You can get their podcasts free on iTunes and catch them on Twitter as well as Facebook. 

I've had a listen to some of the archives and it's good fun with lots of chat about all different genres of television from the U.K.

From Mancs to the Yanks: Corrie to hit America?

The British ex-pat community will be overjoyed to hear that Coronation Street could be heading stateside, but are the yanks ready for cobbles and curlers?

ITV Studios managing director Lee Bartlett has revealed his ambition to launch Corrie in the US, it says here. Coronation Street has never sold to the US as a network show, but Mr Bartlett said yesterday that he wants to make the last 50 years of Corrie's archive available there on-demand.
