Merry Christmas Weatherfield

When I heard there was going to be a fire in Corrie this Christmas, I got slightly worried it'd take away from the festivities, but this years special did the opposite instead of the fire being a focal point, it was just another story in a street full of festive tales. What makes Corrie's Christmas specials for me is the fact that no one needs to die, nowhere needs to blow up or end up on their deathbed.

I knew it was going to be a great episode from the opening moments with the radio presenters talking over a shot of a snowy street. The highlight of the episode for me was Sylvia's return and her singing, it's great to have her back again, it was nice to see Gary and Izzy reunite too, hopefully this time everything will work out a little better.

In all it was a great classic Corrie Christmas episode!

Pics: Corrie cast glam up for Street Christmas Party

The Coronation Street cast and crew Christmas party was held last night, Friday 9 December at Suede Nightclub in Manchester.

Some of the Corrie cast are pictured in today's Daily Mail in their best bib and tucker as they made their way to the festive bash.

Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva Price, looked boobtastic (my new favourite word I've just made up) in this stunning red dress. And if my figure was half as good, I'd wear it too.

There's a few more pictures of the Corrie cast arriving for the party at the Daily Mail online

And there are tons of pictures of the cast looking fabulous at the Cozy Cot website here.

Corrie's Kate Ford sings on Christmas charity single

Coronation Street actress Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow,  stars in a new music video to the song I’ll Stand By You.

Kate joined forces with local celebrities, singers and performers to record the song and video at The Bay radio station. Money raised from sales of the CD will go to the Ryan Stanford Appeal, in aid of a three-year-old Lancaster boy who is terminally ill. Ryan has Alpers’ Disease, a terminal genetic disorder affecting both the brain and liver.

Kate said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to support such a worthwhile charity.”

The CD is available from The Bay. It is also being sold at branches of Furness Building Society in Cumbria and north Lancashire, as well as Lancaster and Morecambe College and ASDA stores.

And you can watch the video below.

Dreaming of a white Corrie Christmas

Contrary to the tabloids reporting that Sacha Parkinson had spoiled storylines by tweeting pictures of a snow filled Coronation Street, Corrie have released a full gallery over at itv.com here. Real SFX have done the special effects for the wintry episodes, they were also used for the tram crash last year. Just one month to Christmas now, so don't forget to do your Christmas shopping before it's too late, Corrie fans!

First pics: Coronation Street covered in snow

Here we go with the first Coronation Street pictures with the cobbles covered in snow. Corrie have been filming today with fake snow and as you can see, the results are very festive indeed.  Check out all the Coronation Street Christmas spoilers here.

More! Coronation Street Christmas Spoilers

We've already blogged as many Coronation Street Christmas spoilers as we've found so far - you can read them all here, but remember, take them with a pinch of salt as they're all from the tabloids and may well change.

Well, there's even more Corrie Xmas Spoilers in today's tabloid papers too, and here we go with them all:
Chesney and Katy will call their Christmas baby Joseph.

Rita and Emily battle it out to see who cooks the best Christmas dinner. Their war begins when Emily tells Rita: “I think everyone will agree that I am a better cook than you, Rita. I think it best if I do Christmas dinner.” Rita hits back: “Since when were you Weatherfield’s answer to Delia Smith? Your culinary achievements leave a lot to be desired.” They decide to settle it with a cook-off, and let their neighbours choose the winner.

Also,  Corrie residents will wake up on Christmas morning to discover their presents are sitting under bald Christmas trees because  Gary Windass sells them all rotten trees that shed their pine needles before the big day.

Corrie Christmas Spoilers from Inside Soap Yearbook

Regular blog readers will know that I'm a big fan of Inside Soap magazine. My lovely man and fellow blogger Sunny Jim buys it for me every Tuesday from the newsagent and then hides it inside his Guardian newspaper just in case anyone thinks, you know, he's bought it for himself. (Mind you, he's become very fond of their crossword).  But I digress.  Inside Soap magazine is great, there are often Coronation Street spoilers and when there are, we blog them right here.  The mag's on sale every Tuesday at £1.50 and once a year they release their Inside Soap Yearbook which is full of good stuff.  This year's Yearbook is now in the shops and there's some wonderful Corrie spoilers inside. And so without any further ado, here we go with them all.

Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow, confirms the rumour that Peter starts drinking again and says we'll be seeing some serious drama from Peter over Christmas when he attends Alcoholics Anonymous.  Chris says: "We've never actually seen properly on screen.  We're going to delve deeper into it and see him with his sponsor. It's really great stuff."

Steve and Becky's divorce will become final over Christmas and guess what Becky does with her share of the settlement? She only goes and buys into Streetcars!

Chesney and Katy go deep into debt as Chesney hits the skids in his grief over losing Schmeichel.  With Katy's baby on the way, they're going to face loads of trials together as teenage parents. Poor loves.

And in a fitting tribute, this year's Inside Soap Yearbook is dedicated to Betty Driver.

The Inside Soap Yearbook is available at all good newsagents now for just £2.95.

Peter Barlow to bed Carla Connor at Christmas

Peter Barlow gets a right stocking thriller this Christmas when he ends up between the sheets with sexy factory boss Carla Connor, says The Star.

I guess we've all seen this coming for a long time, but it's great to hear they finally get together. Poor Leanne, though! The paper says that Peter even vows to Carla that he'll leave Leanne for her.

Coronation Street 2011 Christmas Spoilers

Christmas is a huge time for all soaps, and I always love this time of year when we're getting some spoilers and snippets in the press about what might, or might not, be happening on Coronation Street this Christmas.

This blog post will be linked from the right hand side of the blog from now until Christmas and we'll keep it updated with as many Christmas Corrie spoilers as we possibly can. If you spot any we miss, let us know, write it and email or twitter us.

In the run up to Christmas we're having a very special daily blog event happening all the way through December from 1st to the big day on the 25th.  And we've got some wonderful and EXCLUSIVE Christmas competitions coming up on the blog where you can win some great Corrie prizes for yourself or the Corrie fan in your life. Keep checking the blog for all the Chrimbo goodies coming soon!

And so, here we go with the start of the seasonal spoilers. If you don't want to know, don't look - and we can't promise these will come true, they're just what we've picked up in the press, which as you know, is often wrong!

Corrie Christmas storyline - what the elf's going on?

There's a wonderful picture in today's Mirror of Chesney Battersby-Brown and Gary Windass dressed as elves, riding a bike.

And that's not a sight I think we've seen in Corrie before, not elves on a bike anyway!

Coronation Street are now filming their Christmas episodes so I guess this pictures's been taken from one of the festive storylines.  Looks like it might be fun!
