Good evening. I cannot remember if I am supposed to like Todd or hate him. Whichever it is he is an idiot for buying Harry a milk shake, allowing him to have it on the back seat of the car which enables the whole car to be reeking of milk shake when it inevitably goes everywhere. Todd loses the keys to the car (or is Theo gaslighting him by hiding them). Todd then scratches the car against some metalwork in the car park as he is driving whilst on the phone. Then he lies to Theo about where the car is parked, although Kev, currently working alone, due to the missus having sodded off with the brother and the partner having had an accident which may well have been down to his brother, being unable to fix it passing Todd a message about the car not being repaired until tomorrow via Theo who does not take kindly to Todd's lying. Theo extracts his revenge by pouring a bottle of chocolate milk over Todd. Frankly by the end of it I do not want to watch either of them do anything.
Cassie attempts to make peace with Tyrone and Fiz by buying them lunch at the Bistro. She demonstrates that she was never mother material insisting on cutting up Ty's pizza so hard it ends up on the floor after demonstrating how not to get a wheelchair through a crowd and how not to talk to the invalid by asking Fiz about him. Needless to say the reconciliation will be even longer in arriving than it was before. During the meal a miscreant makes off with Fiz's handbag and instantly Ollie (who is dining with Dee Dee at an adjacent table) takes off after him like greased lightning. Despite the head start Ollie returns with the handbag and all contents and is accorded hero status. Given Ollie suggested they go to the Bistro it strikes me that the whole thing is a setup - am I just too suspicious these days?
Dev is at odds with both his children and Bernie. Bernie and Gemma are preparing for the quads party and perhaps Dev and Asha will come to it and talk. However Bernie has reached the point where she does not think that she and Dev can get past this so all the indications are that it will be one of the shortest marriages ever. Dev has similar forebodings as he tells Cassie.
Carl is trying to make himself useful and eventually Debbie agrees to employ him. He almost gets Abi involved in stealing a car - but she realises that Alfie needs her and cannot go through with it. Carl is eventually employed by Debbie and before the episode is out is trying to hack into her supplier accounts possibly to rip her off, or at least that is what it looked like; I may be wrong.
Hope is fed up with Jake staring at her at school and she thinks she lets him down gently - because after all there is a three year age gap. Even Gary spots that Jake seems soft on Hope and warns him off. So doing the usual maths of 2 + 2 = 5 I wonder if it is Jake that is sending those hateful messages to Hope that we saw last week? Pure speculation.
I will be away next weekend so will not be here. Maybe, just maybe I will miss an episode of sweetness and light and lives in a Mancunian back street - this week was closer to that perhaps but it really lacked light among the cesspit of human behaviour being reported in terms of Theo and Carl. Which is worst - I leave you to judge.

Amen Kosmo, is this supposed to be entertainment??? Theo is just ick. To have characters storm into the street, bringing chaos is just getting TOO boring: Mick and his missus, Karl, Becky. We don't care about them and chances are they'll be gone within their 12 month contract. So Corrie is very Shakespearean at the moment and not in a good way: poor player(s) that strut(s) and frets his (their)hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. TPTB should really reflect on this short contract model of year by year for incoming actors. It does not give the writers and show runners enough time to do character development, whereby we meet a new character and gradually see the cracks begin to develop and the reasons behind it too. Theo should really be cockahoop, he's out of the closet, living with a proud, gay man. What's the problem???? Yes, the kids are awful, but all teenagers are. Just keep showing up and eventually they'll grow up. Was he ever violent and coercive with his former wife? It would seem not. So where does this behaviour stem from? People that behave in this manner, usually have form. I believe at its heart, it is to do with his own self loathing from when he was closeted. Making him act out in homophobic ways, but this is not being made clear enough yet.
I'd also like to know if Theo was ever cruel or unkind to his wife. I agree that a year long contracts aren't good. I would have liked Lou to stay. As it is, Tim and Sally are left fostering 2 - Brody and his sister.
You very rarely see couples or families being happy in a soap.
If they are, it's off camera and hardly shown. (Mind you, George and Chrissy are the new loved up couple at the moment). Happiness does not create drama.
We've had this controlling storyline before with Liz and Jim, Shelley and Charlie.
I've read that Todd does eventually end it. Fear can also make people stay in a relationship, not end it.
Horrible episode. Good point about bistro bagsnatch possibly being a set-up. Ollie being a hero may help locals accept
new pub family.
Cassie is a terrible mother. Classic "Does he take sugar?" patronising behaviour over Tyrone's meds plus alcohol. Though his reaction over her cutting up his pizza was over-the-top. He did need help because of the wrist injury which Cassie caused by leaving him on his own.
Stupid of him to order pizza. Risotto would have been easier to eat.
As for Todd & Theo - so distressing. The milkshake was daft considering Harry wasn't well, but Theo's different reactions to Sarah and Todd must have opened Todd's eyes. Nothing left to love in Theo when Todd is living in fear.
Thanks. I got the impression when they went to Canal Street a few weeks ago that it became clear that Theo has indeed had a previous gay relationship - which led to the conversion therapy. Alongside this I formed the impression that he had treated his previous gay partner as badly as he treats Todd and it is driven by his revulsion of himself as a gay man all of which means he did not mistreat Danielle - but has to maltreat gay partners to reflect his own torments. Of course my interpretation is just that and the programme makers may have a completely different intention.
Agree that characters like Theo need to be in the show for a while to make us get to know them and like them. Only then should their dark side be allowed to show. If Theo had been a brilliant boyfriend for a year or so, then it would be easy to see how Todd would stick by him when things go sour. As it is, Theo's a guy he's only just met.
And what happened to the Joannie and Shanice story?
Todd should give Theo a taste of his own medicine to show Theo what its like to be abused and controlled like this if i was Todd I would have punched Theo and kicked him out by now
People pleasers who actively avoid conflict do not want to fight back, as they reason that it would make everything worse.
There's no point 2 of them smashing the meal times up and chucking milk over each other, as it would descend into total chaos.
Fighting violence with violence could only make matters worse, especially if you fear your safety.
What if you risk losing your life? Theo could easily pick up a knife, and use it on Todd, couldn't he?
I know the Theo - Todd storyline is supposed to be about spousal abuse and coercive treatment but that Todd aint half doing a lot to wind ol' Theo up. Almost like the scriptwriters are throwing every stupid thing that Todd could possibly do and writing him doing it. I mean he seems to put the sanctimonious vicar and the hideous Summer in front of Theo, he seems to opt for every opportunity to do things behind Theo's back and he lies through his teeth. Whilst Theo is the panto villain here, Todd's behaviour leaves a lot to be desired (and that's not excusing Theo's behaviour).
Todd keeps things from Theo, as he's afraid of his reaction. When he found out about the damaged car, he went crazy.
Does that create a sense of trust? No, it doesn't.
Todd has admitted that he doesn't tell him things, because he's afraid of his reaction, but it doesn't make any difference to a person as unpredictable as Theo. He'll simply use his 'confession' to play power games against him.
Todd needs to feel safe, and at the moment he doesn't.
If little white lies protects him, he'll think it's worth it to avoid trouble and conflict.
It's interesting to see how quickly the Todd/Theo storyline has progressed. Had the old Todd/Bruno been acting it wouldn't have the same affect (the old Todd was much more sinister at times). Gareth looks like a little boy in his suit and tie and carefully combed hair. In the first few weeks it was love bombing, now it's gaslighting and violence. So far he hasn't actually assaulted Todd, verbally yes...so it will just be a matter of time before Theo does lay hands on Todd. Then we will see the end of this terrible and boring storyline and get back to the real Todd.
