We're back, baby! The Franklin-Websters are back from holiday, the kids are back to school, and yeah, why not, a character hitherto unseen is back from the dead. I admit that when the residents of number 6 were toasting Bratty Betsy's birthday with what looked like Mad Dog 20/20 (I could feel my hangover coming on just looking at the bottle on screen. Aren't gen z all about sobriety and nutrition goals?) in front of the photo of Swain, Becky and Betsy, I thought they had cast Becky and we were going to have a flashback episode at some point. But no, we've flashed back to 2021 and Rebecca is back! Does that make Betsy Mrs Danvers, or...
I thought D.S. Swain, even back when she was D.S. Blonde Ponytail/Spider's handler, was supposed to be the hottest 'tec at Weatherfield PD? Did she not ask to see the body when her wife was murdered by persons unknown? I'm interested to see how this is going to play out, but at the same time, I'd like an end to the mystery at some point. Corrie isn't The Thursday Murder Club, and not just because it's not on on a Thursday.
Meanwhile, as it's Ms Drama Queen's bday, she ditches her family and storms off to find either Brody or Dylan or maybe both, but they are busy being Manchester's worst TWOC-ers. Firstly they are spotted by George, then they lose control of the car and almost hit Betsy, but then do hit Tyrone, who's off to Kate Oates Memorial, closely followed by Dame Maureen and the rest of the Dobbses. Evelyn has done two hospital visits in two days, although she's not accompanied by a Frida Kahlo lookalike this time. Not sure what the point of Tyrone being knocked down is, unless it's to build more of a case against Carl and his bad boy ways? Abi, lovestruck dope that she is, tells him that she was celibate whilst away with Kev visiting our Sophie, but Carl does not reciprocate. I do wonder though if Carl's recently discovered bisexuality is because he's trying to get to Ollie via Deedee via James?
I finally understood the number 6/number 8 bin conflict as David finds a positive pregnancy test in their bin, but he doesn't know it belongs to Betsy (who's feeling nauseous) or Lily, who's already been sick (I suspect fingers down throat to get out of the first day of school), or whether Lisa or Carla have been "playing away". He doesn’t seem to consider the possibility that either Ms Swain or Ms Connor has been using a sperm donor to start a family or the actual possibility that his own wife might be up the duff. Also, if people are so determined to keep their pregnancies secret, why do they always chuck the tests in the bin where they can be found? Take them to Rosamond st, leave them in the ladies' loos at the Rovers, chuck them in the canal, FFS.*
*Please always dispose of your unwanted pregnancy tests responsibly.

Agree, Rachel. Dreadful soap cliche - always leave incriminating evidence where it can be found. It's as annoying as top secret information being discussed and overheard. Shona seemed to own up to the positive test kit at the end of the episode but that must be a white lie to distract David while she uncovers the truth.
Rumour has it that Chris Gascoyne is set to return to the cobbles as well. Should spice things up a bit! Not loving this return from the dead police drama stuff..matter of fact. Hate it. I'd watch a cop show if I was looking for that. Give me regular people living regular lives. Enough with American Style Television...sooo unbelievable. ....and the pregnancies after having sex once. ENOUGH ..you're going to scare the youngsters into thinking this happens all the time (might not be a bad idea) Make us laugh Corrie, we could use one. Glad to see Evelyn!
Playing charades in an A&E waiting room?! Ridiculous. No thought for other people.
Surely Cassie would have have stayed at home with the kids while Fizz went to the hospital, but no we have to make it a family outing. Do the writers actually live in the real world?
I hope Shona isn't lying. It would be a change from the teenage/ one night stand pregnancies.
A letter in Radio Times complains about the deterioration of Corrie - reflects all our views.
I don't want Peter Barlow back. He's served his time on the show. But I suppose he's meant to console or confuse Carla now she has to compete with Becky. Did Carla and Peter ever divorce? If not she can't marry Lisa, or it's bigamy!
Peter coming back is great news! This will certainly make Carla question her sexuality. It could make some good TV and hopefully lead to her and Peter getting back together! (Sorry not a Swarla fan - Carla's personality change is too much to handle for this viewer)
So, no Corrie tonight because of NTAs
I suppose the charades was an attempt at humour. Failed. The writers have no clue.
Oh, this 'coming back from the dead' plot is absolutely absurd. It's a typical soap opera cliche that's unrealistic and unconvincing.
The actress who plays Becky isn't tugging at the heartstrings, either- she's just trotting out her lines with hardly any emotion.
I think Shona's pregnancy is nice but I think something will happen and a full -term baby won't appear.
There's already several babies and toddlers on the street. Do we need any more?
I've loved David and the bin wars - it's made me smile.
I see that there's no mention of letting Max know.
Also, I'm a bit puzzled why Theo is following Nina on SM. That's the only way he'd be able to see the pic she posted of the mixed group get together at the rovers.
I like how even how Debbie is charmed by the conning, clever Christina! Loved Debbie's singing and I hope she and Glenda form their own choir.
I'd love to see Peter Barlow back and with Simon, who will now be played by another actor.
I hope Lisa and Betsy leave, as they get on my wick. Maybe Lisa kills Becky, as Becky is supposed to be dead anyway and Lisa and Betsy go on the run?
Hopefully the baby will appear, as it makes a change for a baby to be born to a happily married couple for a change, with no questions over parentage (please don't let it be Kit's). The bin wars will be over, now that David has discovered the pregnancy test, as that seems to have been the point of the exercise.
Thank goodness Lisa didn't just fall into Becky's arms. Good acting, showing the conflict because they had been a family, but ultimately she had abandoned them. Unforgivable, especially deserting her daughter. I think Carla will tell Roy the truth.
I hope you're wrong about Shona - do we need any more dead babies?
Am liking Ryan these days.
I liked the bin wars! It was a nice bit of comedy and it made me smile. I hope that Shona does have the baby.
We need more Platts now Gail and Max have gone (Bethany is returning) but this is a soap opera and things don't always go smoothly.
I think the last person who was pregnant was Fizz and she decided to have an abortion.
I meant that no- one said to tell Max about the new baby. No- one mentions his name, no one writes to him, or calls him, or even visits - it's such a shame! Yet Gail is often mentioned.
The actress said that she'd be happy to pop back for the odd appearance.
I don't think the baby could be Kit's, as it's too distant in the past and they've had a 'Who's the daddy?' plot with Daisy.
