'Tyrone is not my husband' says Lucy Jo Hudson

What's On TV has an interview with Lucy Jo Hudson today. Lucy Jo is familiar to Corrie fans from her days as Katy Harris who met a sugary end after lashing out and killing her father, Tommy in the garage. Lucy Jo is also married to Alan Halsall who we also know as Tyrone Dobbs.

Lucy Jo has just finished a successful run on ITV's Wild at Heart. In this interview, she says she doesn't connect the character of Tyrone to her husband Alan because the two are very different. 

"But I don't see Tyrone as my husband, he's much quieter than Al who's really in your face and very funny. I think the storyline is really good, they're doing a brilliant job. Natalie is amazing at playing a psycho."

But she thinks Alan and co-star Natalie Gumede are doing a bang up job (pardon the pun).

Lucy Jo also talks about her own career, and how she found it difficult to handle the fame when she was on Coronation Street as a young 17 year old actor. Acting was never something she'd considered previously but has grown to love it.

Alan Halsall splits from wife Lucy-Jo Hudson

Alan Halsall, who plays Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs has split from his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson.  Lucy-Jo played Katy Harris in Coronation Street.

The couple married in June 2009.

They confirmed their separation in a statement today which reads:

"Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall are sad to announce that they have separated. They've shared many wonderful years together and will remain close friends. They ask for privacy at this emotional time, to allow them both to focus on their beautiful daughter Sienna-Rae, to ensure her continued happiness."

Lucy-Jo Hudson stars in new comedy film

Lucy-Jo Hudson, who played Coronation Street killer Katy Harris and is the real-life fiance of Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, is set to star in a new film. Lucy plays the part of Sam in the film Looking for Eric which will be released this year. It's a comedy based on the life of legendary footy player Eric ooh-aah Cantona.

Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson in this week's OK magazine

Alan Halsall, who plays Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs, is featured in this week's OK magazine with his pregnant wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, who played Corrie killer Katy Harris.

Alan says in the mag:  "Lucy took me by surprise when she told me she was pregnant. I made her do five pregnancy tests because I couldn’t believe it happened so fast."

And after enduring a traumatic few months being bed-ridden with extreme morning sickness, the 30-year-old is very positive about the birth.

I don't know if you can read the headlines from the small picture but there's a lovely quote from either Alan or Lucy-Jo who say: "We wish Bill Tarmey was alive to see our daughter."

Lucy-Jo Hudson: "I couldn't cope with Corrie"

Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) is marrying his long term girlfriend Lucy-Jo Hudson (Katy Harris) later this year. And in an emotional interview with The People, Lucy-Jo talks about being mugged while filming Wild at Heart in Africa. And she also reveals that she struggled with the role of killer Katy Harris on Coronation Street.

"I was 18 when I got the Katy part," she said. "Because I was so young I couldn't cope with it at all. Your life turns upside down because you can't go anywhere without people pointing at you and putting a camera in your face to take a picture because you're public property. I became a recluse and hibernated. It was a relief to leave."

However, happier times are ahead as she and Alan plan their big day. She said: "I haven't even got a date. I just haven't had time but I hope it is this year. I'd love an intimate wedding but I am sure he wants a big do because he wants a big p***-up."

Alan Halsall pictured kissing Lucy-Jo Hudson

Last month, Lucy Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall announced that they had split up.  Today, the tabloids report that they've sparked reconciliation rumours after they were pictured kissing at an event.

Alan and Lucy-Jo attended The Celebrity Allstar Football Team match in Manchester and looked "very much together."

The match, which was played by celebrities from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, was in aid of the Bill Tarmey Memorial Trophy.  Cheering the players on from the terraces was Michael Le Vell who plays Corrie's Kevin Webster.

Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson get married

Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson were married yesterday but just like Tupele Dorgu's wedding the other week, there are no online pictures of the happy couple.

Alan, better known as Tyrone Dobbs from Coronation Street wed Lucy-Jo, who played killer Katy Harris, in Barthomley, Cheshire. However, bride and groom were dressed under wraps to protect their image rights as they've sold their nuptials to a celebrity magazine.

Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs on Coronation Street is on the front cover of this week's OK magazine along with his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, who played Katy Harris on Corrie, and their litle girl Sienna.

Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson back together again?

A few weeks ago, Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson (Katy Harrison) announced officially that they'd split up.

Then, at the weekend, pictures emerged of them both kissing.  Have a look here.

And today, Digital Spy reports that it looks very much as if the couple are back together. Alan and Lucy have been publicly tweeting each other with some lovey-dovey stuff about a break to Paris.

Join Tyrone and Kirk's charity golf day - August 31

Coronation Street lads Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Andy Whyment (Kirk Sutherland) have joined forces for charity with Tyrone and Kirk's golf day to take place on August 31 this year.

The charity they're supporting is called Joining Jack and Alan and Andy are hoping to raise thousands for the appeal through the star-studded event on August 31. Alan is married to fellow actor Lucy Jo Hudson, one of the nine ambassadors of Joining Jack.

Joining Jack was set up by Andy Johnson and wife Alex after they discovered their son Jack has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The four-year-old appears perfectly healthy, and has no idea that he is suffering from a terminal illness which – over the coming years – will eat away at his body.

Lucy Jo Hudson said: “I don’t play golf myself, but I will be there on the day to serve tea and coffee and help out where I can. In the past we’ve had some ex-footballers coming along, the Coronation Street lot – Kym Marsh was there last year – and it’s really relaxed, and really good fun. Then afterwards we have a meal and a few drinks, so it should be a really good day. And it’s all for a great cause, all for Joining Jack, which is what it’s about.”

Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson confirm they're divorcing

Coronation Street's Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs and his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, who played Katy Harris in Corrie, are divorcing. The news was announced today and confirmed too.

The MEN report that the couple have been together for nine years and have a young daughter, Sienna.  The couple briefly split in 2016 but got back together later.

Corrie actor guest of honour at Teesside care homes

Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, stopped by at Wynyard Woods Care Home, in Stockton, and Middlesbrough Grange, in Ormesby, on Saturday with his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson.  Lucy-Jo played Katy Harris in Coronation Street.

The Teesside Gazette reports that the pair were guests of honour at a Coronation Street Bistro-themed lunch, where they enjoyed freshly prepared food with the staff, residents and relatives at the homes.

A spokesperson for Middlesbrough Grange said residents had been looking forward to the visit.

“Our residents love watching Coronation Street and so they were really excited to see Tyrone in real life,” the spokesperson said.

Alan and Lucy-Jo signed autographs and memorabilia for residents and staff, and took part in a raffle.    Have a look at the gallery of pictures here.

Gemma and Michael over at Conversation Street, the Corrie podcast, have been keeping fit the Corrie way!

Do you wish to be more fit, but lack a funky method of achieving your goals?

Well, we’ve got the DVD for you.

 Coronation Street Funk Fit has been meticulously researched and developed to be 100% more funky than any of the other fitness videos on the market. It features the fine dancing talents of Lucy-Jo Hudson (Katy Harris), Tina O’Brien (Sarah Platt) and Nikki Sanderson (Candice Stowe). Using their freshest techniques, the trio and Troy the Trainer will guide you painstakingly through each segment of a dance, culminating in a tour-de-force performance the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the highs of 90s pop, when crop tops, hair mascara and platform Mary-Janes were the height of fashion. As this DVD was released in 2004, believe us when we say there has been plenty of time for funky scientists to distil the decade into its most essential dance techniques.

Utilising incredible moves like the body roll, drop-wiggle-up, march, shuffle-arms-head-back, and slide-slide-slide-slide, you’ll build up your dance repertoire. If you’re a complete dance novice, fear not, because each workout segment tackles one dance sequence, repeating the action over and over again until you too can dance with the self-aware awkwardness of a bunch of early 20-somethings who are trying to be cool whilst at the same time trying not to commit to caring about being cool. It helps if you wear black, baggy, military-style trousers, tight fitting tops in primary colours, and black basketball trainers. Hair braiding is awarded extra marks when it’s done in cornrows.

When completing the DVD, you first have to decide on your workout personality for the duration. Lucy-Jo-style involves competent seriousness – never have too much fun doing these moves, because dancing is a serious business, and also they didn’t let you wear the same trousers as everyone else, so hold back a little just to punish them. To perform Nikki-style means to try and upstage everyone with your sexiness in as nonchalant a fashion as you can muster. You know you nailed the body roll in the warm-up, and things can only get better from there. To ‘do a Tina’, you’ll need follow along innocently trying to do your best, allowing yourself to be inspired by both Nikki and Lucy-Jo’s examples, depending on how shy or outgoing you feel at any particular point. Think ‘I’m cute and goofy, but I’m also SEXY’ and you’ll be there. You’ll never be able to pull a Troy, because Troy is the trainer and he’s cooler than you’ll ever be or can hope to be.

After several segments, you’ll confidently loop everything you’ve learned into the ‘finale’, which is a performance of the entire dance from start to finish several times. After you’re done, you will have spent about an hour learning dance moves you can never show anybody, because they’re too funky to show in public. You will have barely broken a sweat, too, because Coronation Street Funk Fit is a fitness dance that isn’t really fitness or a dance. Ten out of ten.

Corrie ladies support breast cancer charity

Manchester United's team colours feature red, normally. But this weekend, Old Trafford gets lit up with bright pink in support of Breast Cancer Care. There was a ladies-only dinner held there in honour of the charity and there were quite a few current and former female Coronation Street actors in attendance. Lucy Jo Hudson, who played the tragic Katy Harris, turned on the lights. She supports the charity because she lost her grandmother to the disease. Other names we'll recognize include Denise Welch (Natalie Horrocks Barnes), Tina O'Brien (Sarah Platt Grimshaw), Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre), Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) and Katherine Kelly (Becky Granger McDonald). October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, not just in the U.K. either. Here in Canada, a major bank, CIBC, holds Run for the Cure in most cities across the country tomorrow, October 4. If you know someone running, sponsor them!

Corrie couples in All Star Mr and Mrs

Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and his bride-to-be, Lucy Jo Hudson (Corrie's ex-Katie Harris), will be appearing on All Star Mr and Mrs on ITV, Saturday May 8.

Yorkshire Day in Weatherfield

It is Yorkshire Day and whilst it is unlikely to be mentioned on t'cobbles tonight, I thought I would reference the Yorkshire folk who make up the Street. Even though it's on the wrong side of the Pennines, and you can't, as Brian Potter said on Phoenix Nights, pit the counties, Corrie speaks more to me than the every day tale of helicopter crashes and Dingles on the other ITV soap, Emmerdale. The two counties do have some things in common however: we have plain speaking, bosom-heaving matriarchs and we call a ginnel a ginnel, although the correct name for a barm is a bread cake.

 

I now live in That London, but was born in Leeds and grew up in Doncaster (although I am technically a half-breed as (whisper) my dad is a Lancastrian). My home town was featured when Mike Baldwin had Alzheimer's and he took himself off to Doncaster to find his son, but the scenes that took place at “Doncaster rail station” were quite clearly at a Metrolink station rather than the nine platforms of Doncaster. 

Anyway, Coronation Street may be set in a version of Salford, but many of its cast hail from God's Own County. Long term cast members slash Corrie royalty Jack P Shepherd (David) and Beverley Callard (Liz) both hail from Leeds, as does Sair Khan (Alya). Helen Worth (Gail) is from Wakefield. Liam Bairstow (Alex) is from Bradford. Mikey North (Gary Windass) is from Scarborough.

From the guest cast of the past, Steve Jackson, aka Trevor the sexy binman who dated Carla and then left with Janice Battersby, is from my home town of Donny. As is Richard Crehan (Lee, Billy's skanky brother), and Liz's ex Vernon (Ian Reddington) was from Sheffield. Anyone remember Norris's ex-wife's ex-husband, Ivor Priestley? He is called Paul Copley and is from Denby Dale (near Huddersfield). Maureen Lipman, very temporary bar manager, Lillian, is from Hull. David Crellin who played both the actual Colin Fishwick and Jimmy Clayton, Steve's girlfriend Ronnie's criminal ex-husband, was born in Sheffield. Getting into very minor stories now, Jake Harman (Kenny Doughty), who briefly romanced 'Chelle, is from Barnsley. 

Dead but not forgotten: Jimi Mistry (Kal Nazir) was born in Scarborough, although crossed the Pennines to go to school in Cheadle Hulme, Lucy Jo Hudson (Katy Harris) is from Leeds and her on-screen dad Tommy Harris (Thomas Craig) is from Sheffield. Paula Lane (Kylie) is another Leeds gal and her still living sister Becky Grainger-McDonald (Katherine Kelly) is from Barnsley.

Also from Leeds was the incomparable Liz Dawn (Vera).

I'm sure I've missed loads out. Who else is from east of the Pennines?
