Conversation Street Podcast Episode #700

On our 700th episode of the podcast, we share our thoughts on what went on in Corrie between the 29th September and the 3rd October (Episodes #11,681 - 11,686).

She’s been a firm favourite of the podcast since her 2014 return, but this week we bid a fond farewell to Jenny, who jetted off from Weatherfield to start a new life in Tenerife. We’d known her exit was coming for a while - but was it a send-off worthy of a character of Jenny’s calibre, or did it leave us wanting more? Also this week, Todd, Theo and co hit Manchester’s Gay Village in some brilliantly directed scenes that exposed a secret from Theo’s past - and revealed just how dark he can be. Meanwhile, Debbie discovers the truth about her brother’s affair, Bethany makes her return to Weatherfield after yet another career disaster, and Asha considers quitting her paramedic course.

Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where we celebrate Corrie's recent success at the Inside Soap Awards, and we round off the podcast with more of your fabulous feedback.

As part of our 700th episode celebrations, this week, we have an exclusive chat with actress Sally Ann Matthews about her decision to leave Corrie and what it was like to film those final moments. Sally Ann shares some behind the scenes secrets about some material that was filmed but never made it to air, reminisces about her favourite moments from the past decade and gives an idea about where we might be seeing her on our screens next...

Corriedale production begins

ITV bosses have revealed that the momentous soap crossover episode, in which the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale come together for the first time, is to be called Corriedale.

Filming has begun on the special one-off celebration of the nation’s two most watched soap operas, which will see the residents of Weatherfield join forces with their Yorkshire neighbours in an action-packed hour of drama.

Corriedale will air on ITV, STV, ITVX and Youtube in early 2026, and will herald the start of the new soap power hour schedule, with each show screening 30 minute episodes every weekday, Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8.30pm.

Both soaps are marking the occasion in spectacular style, the combined production teams have embarked on an ambitious stunt that will have everlasting consequences for everyone involved.

Cameras started rolling on the highly anticipated production at the end of September - with details of the stunt and which characters are involved being kept under wraps for the time being.

ITV Executive Producer for Continuing Drama Iain Macleod said: “It’s beyond exciting that filming is under way on Corriedale. There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular. And that’s before we’ve even got to all the brilliant transpennine interactions between characters from the different shows! As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.”
