ITV welcome Sally back to Corrie

The official Coronation Street website has pictures and an interview with Sally Dynevor (who has started using her family name rather than the previous name of Sally Whittaker).

Have a look at the news here.

Sally to return in July

Today, Inside Soap reveals that Sally Webster will be returning to the cobbles of Coronation Street in July. Supposedly staying with her sister while recuperating from breast cancer, in real life the actress has had time off to tackle the same thing.
There'll be plenty for her to deal with when she gets back: her hubby is worried he's the father of Molly's child; her daughter Sophie is set to embark on a lesbian relationship with her best friend Sian; and her other daughter Rosie is as dozey as ever.

Meanwhile Sally Whittaker has decided to adopt her husband's name of Dynevor. I don't care what she calls herself, it'll be great to have her back.

Sally Whittaker's real-life fight with breast cancer

Sally Whittaker, who plays Sally Webster on Coronation Street, has spoken today about her real-life battle with breast cancer.

Sally reveals that she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time as her on-screen Corrie character was diagnosed in the storyline. It's heartbreaking stuff and Sally Whittaker is applauded for her bravery and honesty in speaking out about this as it will surely help other women deal with the disease too.

There's an exclusive interview with Sally in Hello! magazine (some of which appears online) and the news is also on the ITV Corrie site.

Sally said: “If I had not been researching this storyline I may not have discovered the lump in my breast and had it looked at so quickly. As a result of the early diagnosis my treatment has been successful and I am able to return to work next month. This storyline could very well have saved my life."

Sally says she is now looking forward to returning to work on Corrie and she will be supporting breast cancer charity The Genesis Campaign and The Christie Hospital in Manchester.

Here at the Coronation Street blog, we all send Sally Whittaker our very best wishes.

Sally Webster gets her own birthday wrong

It's not often I'm pedantic about Corrie (no, really) but last night, Sally Webster got her own birthdate wrong on Coronation Street.

When she was in the hospital bed, the nurse asked her to confirm her name and date of birth. Sally got her name right but for her date of birth she replied: "Seventh of the eleventh, 1967". I whizzed the Sky+ back a couple of times to be sure I'd heard her right - because that's not Sally's birthday. She was born on July 11, 1967 and I remembered this because I blogged about Sally's 40th birthday back in July 2007 on a different website. So, Sally had meant to say "Eleventh of the seventh, 1967." Mind you, she had just taken her pre-op so her mind could have wandered, but still...

Yours, pedantic of blogland.

Sally Webster in breast cancer storyline

There's sad news ahead for Sally Webster on Coronation Street when she's diagnosed with breast cancer.

Digital Spy reveal that Corrie producers are working with a panel of breast cancer experts and charities to ensure that Sally's story is portrayed as realistically as possible. Sally's diagnosis will come when Kevin and Molly decide on their future together and a guilt-ridden Kevin will be forced to choose between Molly and his wife.

Sally Whittaker, who plays Sally Webster, said: "I do know women who have suffered or are suffering from breast cancer. For the last year, I have been fundraising for breast cancer charities and am a long-standing patron for The Genesis Appeal. So, when I was told about this storyline I was determined to do it justice for all the women out there who are going through what Sally is."

Sally Whittaker to run half-marathon

Sally Whittaker, who plays Sally Webster, is in training to run the Wilmslow half marathon nex month. She's raising funds for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

Sally said: “The last time I entered a race was at primary school and that was with and egg and spoon, so up until recently I would have laughed at the thought of running 13 miles. To spur me on I decided to run for Francis House and once I had phoned the hospice I knew there was no going back. I’ve seen the great work they do for so many families and children and I think of them when it gets tough."

Sally Webster's new hairdo

I've had loads of emails asking where actress Sally Whittaker, who plays Coronation Street's Sally Webster, has her hair done. I only wish I knew but can guess it's not at Audrey's. Whoever she has to do her hair has made a beautiful job of the latest restyle and it suits her down to the ground. It's even made celebrity coiffure news too.
