Grace Dent - "Corriegeddon"

The still lovely Grace Dent has written a column about last night's episode here, in which she astutely says that the menfolk were doomed the minute they all said how in love they were.

Some of the comments on the article are absolutely comedy gold too. I think you have to have a sense of humour to love Corrie.

Grace Dent on Corrie

Photo credit to the Guardian, who publish it with the caption "Grace Dent channels her inner Elsie Tanner". Bless!

The lovely Grace Dent has written a piece about Corrie here. It is a lovely piece about what Corrie has taught her, and is very reminiscent of her Northern childhood, apart from anything.

I love Grace Dent, I do.

Grace Dent's tribute to Maggie Jones

Soaps queen Grace Dent writes a wonderful tribute to Coronation Street actress Maggie Jones at The Guardian website. It's well worth a read and it's here.

Grace Dent's take on Dev's Uncle Umed

The marvellous Grace Dent, she of the World of Lather in The Guardian, had a few things to say about Uncle Umed this week, things I've been saying for ages!

Back in May, I reckoned he was a fake. Grace agrees, calling him a "compulsive liar". He's been spinning stories ever since he arrived, quite suddenly after a generic: "Hey how you doin', drop in if you're ever in the neighbourhood," email from Dev. Having said that, I am finding him funny in a pathetic sort of way.

Grace also called Molly "Daisy Duke", Tyrone "the walking Weetabix" and Claire, "nagging, airtime-squandering wife" (*snork*) She adores Graeme as do most of us, his philosophy and Greek chorus-ability a steady source of amusement and wonder. (Last night he and Roy got into a discussion about cocoa. Roy thought he'd found a kindred spirit but Graeme doesn't really like the stuff, he was just curious! Wonderful!)

Grace Dent's World of Lather on Kevin and Molly

Grace Dent, for those who don't know, is one of soap's best reviewers in the UK and writes a monthly soap update for The Guardian Guide. This week she rips into Molly and Kevin's love affair with some wonderful wit. Read it here.

Sadly, the one thing Coronation Street fans don't get with the online version of Grace's update is the absolutely fantastic illustrations which accompany it. Drawn by Thea Brine, this week it's Molly, er stretching her hamstrings in front of Kevin who's wearing his dirty overalls and Top Man socks.

Grace Dent's World of Lather

It's time for the monthly bubble-wrap from the Guardian's Grace Dent. In her World of Lather column this month she reviews Steve and Becky's wedding that never was. It's great stuff .

Online viewers of Grace Dent's column can't see the current, wonderful, Steve and Becky illustration by the fab Thea Brine. However, you can see some of her past Coronation Street drawings - like this one of Deirdre and Ken - on her website here and some of the illustrations are up for sale too.

Corrie shock and awe: the Windass clan have a fan

Grace Dent's World of Lather always puts a smile on my face when I read her column once a month in The Guardian. But this month I was a little bemused and confused. Could it really be that she's a fan of the Coronation Street Windass clan? Read it and weep. What fans don't get, however, reading Grace's words online is the fantastic illustration from Thea Brine which accompanies each piece in the paper. This month it was a wonderful charicature of Ma and Pa Windass.

The best Corrie reviews in the world

The two best Coronation Street reviewers are undoubtedly Nancy Banks-Smith and Grace Dent.

Both write for The Guardian where Nancy writes a (much too infrequent) Corrie episode review and Grace writes a monthly Word of Lather column.

Grace's columns are always accompanied by a Thea Brine illustration and prints of some of her Corrie ones are up for sale too. Ladies, you rock.
