The top five dogs of Coronation Street

With David the dog being the latest addition to the canine cast of Coronation Street, let's have a look back at some of the dogs who have trotted across the cobbles.

1. Little Rover is Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald) own dog, Cookie. Find out more on that here.

3. Killed off in 2011 Schmeichel the Great Dane is gone but not forgotten. Find out more here.

Dudley the dog sing-along to Coronation Street theme tune

With thanks to the Belfast Telegraph (or the Belly Telly as it's more commonly known) for this little gem.  Because, let's face it, a dog singing along to the Coronation Street theme tune is always worth a laugh.

Three-year-old Lhasa Apso Dudley, from Belfast, loves the Coronation Street theme tune so much - he sings along every time he hears it. As the familiar opening sequence begins Dudley begins howling along to the music.

Video: Dog sings Coronation Street theme (almost in tune!)

Having blogged here for eight years, I've watched a lot of videos of dogs singing the Coronation Street theme tune. I know, I really should get out more. I've even blogged one or two of them that raised a smile. 

This one is doing the rounds at the moment and has been picked up by the press too.   It's pretty good - the dog actually manages to sing it in tune, almost. And I love that the cat tries to photobomb too.

Is it all over for Rover on Coronation Street?

It could be all over for Rover next week on Coronation Street.

Inside Soap magazine reveal today that Steve has a 'ruff' week (I like what they did there) as he steels himself to hand his pet dog Rover back to its rightful owner.

It turns out that Rover belongs to a woman called Paula and the dog's real name is Boo Boo!  But will it be the end of the dog on Coronation Street?  I wonder... as Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald recently posted a picture of Rover, which is played by his own pet, saying 'get on set you diva'.

Does this mean that Rover returns to Corrie?  Ooh, I do hope so.  When Lloyd leaves, Steve's going to have to have a little friend to talk to.

Coronation Street dogs make a special appearance on set

I really love this. Two of my favourite things: Coronation Street and doggies. ITV News is reporting that Ozzy, Eccles and Schmeichel surprised visitors at the former Corrie set at Granada Studios to mark National Pet Month. 

It's great to see Schmeichel back from the dead! 

 

Eccles the border terrier is actually a boy! Eccles plays the Barlow family pet who was originally named Lady Freckles on the show. And he shares the role with Freckles who is female.
