Can two Corrie Women look 100 years Younger in 21 Days?

Two ex-Coronation Street actresses are taking part in a new ITV show called 100 years younger in 21 days

The celebrity line-up for the new ITV documentary series includes Corrie's own Claire King (Erica Holroyd) and Sherrie Hewson (Maureen Holdsworth).  They'll star alongside Eastenders legend June Brown, presenter Roy Walker, Eastenders stalwart Sid Owen, musician Shaun Ryder, TV personality Sandra Martin and astrologer Russell Grant.

The celebrities are taking part in a bold and unique experiment, to find out if we really can stop the aging process and turn back time.  Before embarking on their quest, the celebrities will be subjected to scientific testing to discover how well, or badly, they are aging, inside and out. Each one will then be told the biological age of their face, brain and body.

The group will then spend 21 days on the island of Sardinia, home to one of the oldest populations in the world. They will be asked to commit to a strict diet and exercise routine bespoke for their individual needs, which will push them to their limits and be subjected to cutting edge, extreme, anti-aging treatments. 

After 21 days of intensive rejuvenation, the celebrities are assessed once again, to discover if they have reached their combined goal of losing 100 years from their collective biological ages, both physically and mentally, inside and out.

Tonight: Claire King is In Therapy on Channel 5

Claire King, who played the woefully underused Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street, will be interviewed tonight on Channel 5's In Therapy show in which she talks about being cheated on by her actor husband, and how it caused her to spiral into debt and alcoholism.

Claire opened up about how she has suffered heartbreak, depression, addiction and near financial ruin. And she reveals that the 2004 breakdown of her marriage to Peter Amory – her on-screen stepson Chris Tate in Emmerdale – was what set it off.

She said: “He liked a drink but he was also gambling as well. I mean big gambling. I knew he always gambled but not in that way. Lose your house money, lose everything money. I was £9,000 short of paying my mortgage off and then ­suddenly, poof. It was just horrible and it was draining.”

They divorced after ten years of marriage when it emerged Amory had been cheating with Claire’s co-star Samantha Giles, who played Bernice Blackstock in Emmerdale.

Claire spoke to addiction counsellor Mandy Saligari about the painful split for Channel 5’s In Therapy, which airs tonight at 10pm

Claire King reveals struggle with alcohol and debt

Claire King, who played the woefully underused Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street, has given an interview to Channel 5's In Therapy show in which she talks about being cheated on by her actor husband, and how it caused her to spiral into debt and alcoholism.

Claire King joins Casualty

Claire King, who played Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street, has been signed up for a stint in hospital drama Casualty.

The Sun this week revealed that Claire will play Caryl, a mother of a crack addict in a one-off episode for the BBC. It is a story that Claire's agent on Twitter endorsed, so it's more than a rumour, which is great news.

Claire has also signed up to do pantomime this Christmas. She'll be appearing in  Peter Pan at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.

Claire King Signs Up For Panto - Oh Yes She Does!

Coronation Street actress Claire King will be leaving the show soon in her role as Erica Holroyd. And she's already signed up to play in panto this Christmas. Oh yes she has, etc!

Claire will star in Peter Pan at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.  She'll be on stage alongside panto legend May McFettridge as The Magical Mermaid, the underwater enchantress who is on hand to help the high-flying hero Peter Pan outwit the villainous Captain Hook.

Ian Wilson, chief executive of the Grand Opera House, said: “I am delighted to welcome Claire to the cast of Peter Pan. It’s been a decade since Peter Pan was last staged at the Theatre and with an unprecedented number of 38,000 seats - with half of the available tickets already sold - the show is on course to smash all box office records."

Claire King reveals why she's leaving Coronation Street

Claire King, who plays Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street, was interviewed on ITV's Good Morning Britain today. And she talked about why she was leaving Coronation Street and the role of Erica behind her.

Claire said this about Erica:  "She was a different character to what I'm usually perceived as playing, but I thought that she was such a natural character and a proper Coronation Street character. And then she started changing a bit so... and she had no family, she didn't come in with a family - she was a bit of a pinball pinging about. So yeah, she kind of changed a bit and I just thought, 'Right, this isn't the character that originally started'."

She also said that pulling a pint in the Rovers Return was one of the things on her bucket list - and something she managed to do!

Asked whether she considered heading back to Emmerdale as Kim Tate, she confessed that there was a possibility.

She said: "The door's not locked and I'd never say never."

Claire King signs up to another TV show

Claire King, who plays Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street, is leaving the show later this year. You can read more on that here.

And we can announce today that the actress has signed up to do another telly show.

Claire will be appearing in Channel 5’s hit show In Therapy in which she will talk about her hyster­ectomy and relationship battles.

A source told The Sun: “Now in her Fifties Claire is at a crossroads in her life and there’s plenty to reflect on – not only is she leaving the Corrie family which will bring a big life change but behind all the glitz and glamour of being famous, she’s also had plenty to deal with which hasn’t been easy.

“Caring for her elderly parents and being diagnosed with a lifelong painful illness in her 30s has made her face her own mortality from an early age.

“Claire has also had many low points in her life – she’s been depressed when work dried up when she hit 50 before having a facelift and she’s also facing a future without children of her own.

“When you’ve hit a certain age, you do naturally reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re going…doing In Therapy means she’s able to express all that she wants to say on issues she’s experienced first hand which she hopes will resonate with some of her fans too.”
