New Media Age is reporting that ITV is going to pull its social networking game, Corrie Nation, at the end of July in order to give it a major overhaul. Its popularity has been falling and ITV have been looking for a new development team to expand the game.
An ITV spokeswoman said, “As part of our ongoing transformation strategy, we are exploring how users want to interact with all our key programme brands outside of the linear TV experience. As part of that process, we are planning to take Corrie Nation offline for further development in the summer.”
I tried the game briefly but it didn't really grab me. Then again, I don't think I was really part of its target audience. I know some of the blog's readers are players, how do you feel about it?

Corrie Nation news round-up
Corrie Nation recently had a little update, aside from the weekly dose of new characters the game gets. The Corner Shop rebuild has been reflected in the game, while The Kabin and The Joinery remain destroyed. The game itself has also been tided up, arrows no longer hover above characters heads, making everything look a lot tidier!
Another new addition is minigames in the interiors of Underworld, Rovers and No.1, it's basically a little game of match the pictures, but it's quite fun and a nice little earner. This weeks new characters are Todd Grimshaw, Des Barnes, Phyllis Pearce, Dennis Tanner and Don Brennan.
Oh, and Corrie Gold tastes real good!

Corrie Nation: Hints & Tips
One of the main complaints I hear about Corrie Nation is how slow paced it is - but it all depends on how you play it, here are a few tips that could help you get all the properties on the street!
Characters - Don't waste money on these in the earlier levels, they don't generate much revenue, and are generally just a pain to use.
Items - Items are a really good way of earning Corrie Gold as they don't need restocking. Limited time items such as cars are a great way to boost your income too.
Houses - Useless until this week, houses now generate rent in the same way items generate Corrie Gold, so they're good earners.
Hopefully as the weeks go on more ways of playing the game will be added, but as of now, these are the only hints I can give you, so enjoy playing and I hope I've helped!

Big Corrie Nation update
Just as I was considering quitting Corrie Nation, I've been pulled back in. Today Corrie Nation rolled out a brand new update with several new features, making it much easier to get Corrie Gold (I just got 10,000 from just one day)
Rent - You now recieve rent for your Corrie houses, this can range from 100cg to 3300cg depending on which house you are collecting rent from
Interiors - Though at the moment the interiors have no use it's a step forward in the game, and will hopefully lead to more features.
Corrie Collectables - Collect items that relate to certain characters and you can unlock special edition versions of them - such as Queen Ena Sharples or Rollerskating Rosie!
New Character questions - Several characters now have new questions, and new characters will be launching on Friday!

Corrie Nation: Tram Crash!
I wa shocked when I logged into my Corrie Nation this morning to find a tram through my Kabin, Joinery and Corner Shop! I love that they're keeping the game so up to date with the show, thankfully though, destroyed buildings doesn't mean you lose a source of income!
Anyone else enjoying playing Corrie Nation?

Corrie Nation weekly update: The Joinery comes to Corrie Nation!
The recently opened Joinery has been added to everyone's 'Corrie Nation' Street this week, it works like all the other buildings but it is free! I look forward to seeing what happens when the tram crashes - though I'm not looking forward to losing buildings!
Also for those experiencing problems with 'Corrie Nation' the developers are currently working on a fix, so lets hope they get it all patched up.
What does everyone think of the game so far? I personally am addicted to it, but I don't think I will go as far as to pay real money for Corrie Gold.

Finally, a Coronation Street online game
ITV Studios have announced that an online Corrie game will go live this year. However, although it's free to play at first, you will have to pay if you want certain extras right away, though these will eventually be available once you save up enough 'points'.
The game will launch on Facebook and itv.com on November 1st.
Basically it sounds kind of like a 'what if you were the producer?' game. It sounds really fun and I'm quite excited about it! Finally, you will also be able to play some famous old scenes from Corrie's vast history.
