Preview of today's Coronation Street - Wednesday 30 Jul 2025

Wednesday 30 July 2025

THEO’S ANGER GETS THE BETTER OF HIM Todd grits his teeth and attends the restorative justice session with Noah. With the session over and having listened to enough of Noah’s goading, Todd hurries out. Realising he forgot his jacket, Todd goes back to the community centre in time to overhear Noah on the phone to Danielle. Todd’s shocked to realise they’re an item. As Danielle joins Theo and the kids at the bistro, a seething Todd reveals Danielle’s got a new boyfriend and it happens to be Noah. Danielle’s mortified whilst Theo reels. Miles rounds on Todd and tries to punch him, but Theo blocks his path and accidentally strikes Miles, sending him sprawling to the ground. Theo’s horrified.

DEE-DEE FEARS JAMES HAS LEFT Ed insists the family sit down for breakfast and clear the air. As James looks after Laila, he takes a call and confirms that he’s still very much interested in the job. His bags packed, is James leaving with or without Laila? TENSIONS RISE AT THE WEBSTERS Abi paints on a smile for Jack’s sake, while Carl doubles down and tells Abi that she’s doing the right thing by staying with Kevin and it’s best if they keep their distance from now on.

ELSEWHERE Sam opens up to Toyah about his anxiety and his recent panic attacks.

Lisa admits she skipped her therapy and instead visited Becky’s grave as tomorrow would have been their anniversary.

Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 28th July

ABI - KEVIN - CORONATION STREET - ITV

It's Webster versus Webster as Carl and Kev row about their various misdemeanours and agree on mutual assured destruction - if one tells, the other does. There have been attempts to soften Carl with his care and worry for Debbie, but in the end if you flirt with a hot babe in a car park and she turns out to be your sister in law, then you'd cool your boots, right? You wouldn't then pursue her in a sex pest-y way, telling her that he knows she wants him. This may have worked in Corrie storylines in the 1980s, but in 2025 it just seems like stalking. And whilst I'm harshing on the Webster men, Kev might have been knocked for six by cancer, making him insecure and frightened, but he's kicked Abi out several times, this "she's gonna leave me" boohoo doesn't play quite right.

Anyhoo, Ty is forced to tell Abi that Kev has been lying about the cancer returning and Abi is so mad she goes and, erm, romances Carl in the garage office. I hope that's not going to be on the CCTV. Also, is Kev going to end up co-parenting another of Abi's one night stand babies? Abi, after confronting her husband, is ready to leave him and go live in Germany with creepy Carl but Kev tells him nothing's changed, he can still go to the po-po about the dodgy MOTs and car-thievery, so Carl tells Abi to go back to her husband. Although it's actually Jack realising he'd have to become a substitute mum to Alfie and asking her to stay that makes her return to number 13.

Meanwhile, Theodd (Toddeo?) talk excitedly about a flat in town that they want to view. It's on the tramline, has a balcony, and a pool in the basement! Yeah, right. As if they're not going to end up in the flat above the builder's yard. Their car beaks down on the way to the viewing, so they have a little bit of back seat delight whilst waiting for Ty to turn up. Someone's been reading the Jonathan Harvey Official Guide To Double Entendres You Can Say Before 9 p.m. as the two talk about big ends and tools with Tyrone. They also tell each other they love one another, so presumably there is a storm coming and this is the calm?

Dve’s range of terrible accents is out on display as he talks to Aunty Rani on the phone. I'm looking forward to her turning up: we need a new battleaxe since Dame Maureen went off to law school.
Lauren, who looks quite healthy now the make up artists have stopped putting talc on her face, frets about what to wear to the wedding of the season. We know it's going to be a tracksuit, right? Also, it doesn't matter as we know everything is going to go t*ts up before that.

In the Bistro, the Tilsley-Batterby-Platts talk about new coffees they could serve - the Platt White, the Cappushona, the Amernickano. The Leatte? Cortoddo? Cathygatto? I'll stop now. Sam, now that his voice has broken and he's becoming a sassy teen, tells Lily that there has been a spate of break-ins and the burglars rearrange the furniture of their victims. I think he must have been watching The Edukators on Film 4. Whilst Lily draws a wind turbine or something at Eco Club, he goes to the Platts' and moves the furniture around to get his revenge on Lily. I'm not sure what the point of this storyline is unless it's to introduce New Lily or to cause friction between Nick and David?

And finally, in what feels it should have been the A story, Deedee tells James and the assembled Baileys that she's changed her mind and wants to keep Laila. Uh-oh. Tug of love storyline incoming!

Jane Hazlegrove interview: Does Bernie make it down the aisle with Dev?

Is Bernie ready for some happiness as her wedding to Dev approaches?

Absolutely. This has been a love affair that’s been going on for a long time, her and Dev have propped each other up through quite a few things. He’s been a massive support to her. Obviously there’s a reason why she’s brought this wedding forward earlier than anticipated, but it’s a dream for her to marry this fabulous, handsome man.

Does she genuinely love Dev, or is she using the wedding purely as a scam to help Aadi pay his debts using Auntie Rani’s wedding money?

She’s absolutely nuts about Dev. He’s kind to her and I don’t think she’s had a lot of kindness from men over the years, she’s quite a complicated character and is very impulsive. But this is definitely an affair of the heart. It’s all genuine.

Is she confident in her and Aadi can pull off their scheme?

I think she’s pretty confident in all her harebrained schemes really, she doesn’t always see the consequences or the end result. I think she’s confident she can pull it off. She’s pretty optimistic, she’s got to be because she does come out with some interesting things and lurch from one mad, harebrained scheme to another, but she genuinely thinks they can pull it off.

Why didn’t she just come clean to Dev about Aadi’s predicament?
I don’t think that’s a viable option, and it’s a case of once you start swimming out. She's so far away from the shore that there’s no turning back really. It's not about her being secretive to Dev, she’s just trying to protect Aadi because he has made an absolute hash of things, hasn’t she? Bernie’s made enough mistakes herself and will always fight for the underdog, bless her.

How does Bernie feel when she finds out Dev’s got pole dancers at his stag in the Rovers?

She’s not best pleased! She has a really quiet, sedate hen-night to keep costs down. Auntie Rani is there, they’re not getting on particularly well. Bernie’s got Gemma there obviously ,and Nina and Shona and Mary. She’s finding Auntie Rani quite patronising and a little condescending so is desperately trying to keep those plates spinning. Glenda comes in and tells her there’s pole dancing in the Rovers, so Bernie goes and joins them!

Does this cause friction with Dev the night before the wedding?

It’s actually really good fun, and was really good fun to film as well, as you can imagine. Bernie is not the only one pole dancing, that’s all I’m saying!

How does Bernie feel on the morning of the wedding?

She’s very nervous, very excited, she’s missing Paul, her Apollo, dreadfully – he should be walking her down the aisle. It’s a massive life changing moment. She’s not a woman who believes in marriage and sees it as a patriarchal conceit, which is what she’s said all along. For her to smash those principles it’s a massive day, and to be marrying this respectable guy in the community.

She forgets the locket with Paul’s picture in so goes home to get it, and disturbs a
burglar…

Somebody has broken into the house. Bernie decides she’s going to stand up to them, then it's revealed who it is… It gives Bernie food for thought and something to sort out, and not exactly what she needs before she’s about to go and say I do.

She eventually makes it to the bistro for the wedding, does Kit walk her down the aisle?

Bernie is over the moon Kit is there but he doesn’t walk her down the aisle because he’s still injured from the stabbing. Bernie walks herself down the aisle, or should I say she raves herself down the aisle, she’s got this bonkers music playing and kind of dances down the aisle herself! it’s quite a sight to behold, I enjoyed playing it and hope the audience enjoy watching it because it was fun to do!

Bernie collapses as she and Dev are about to exchange vows, what can you tell us about that?

Suddenly Bernie can’t breathe, the poor love, and ends up in A&;E. Dev, and a lot of people, think she’s on her way out because it's quite serious. She is really frightened, this has come from nowhere and she can’t breathe. It' s terrifying. Is she going to be okay?

Was that a hard scene to film, going from light-hearted to tragic?

That’s what is so brilliant about Coronation Street, you don’t know what you’re going to get until you open the page of the script and that’s what is so fantastic about how it plays out – we’ve got this woman raving down the aisle and the next minute she’s in casualty, pardon the pun! The writers throw all kinds of things at you and you just hope and pray you give credence and justice to whatever they’ve written. Who knows what Bernie is going to do next, that’s why I love playing her.
