DAVID’S GUNNING FOR JODIE David and Shona confront Jodie about the contents of the trinket box.

ALYA’S FAMILY TREE IS UPROOTED Having heard from Leanne about how much time Alya spends on her legal work, Idris decides to speak to a surprised Alya about selling her share of the restaurant. But Idris has another shock for her.

CASSIE FEARS ROSS IS HERE TO STAY Steve and Cassie call at the Rovers to find Tyrone, Ross and Tracy enjoying celebratory drinks. When Ross reveals that he’s accepted a job at Highfield Prison and he’ll be staying in the area, Cassie’s furious and stalks back out. At No.1, Steve advises Cassie to keep her cool and assures her that at some point Ross will show his true colours and Tyrone will see him for who he really is.

ELSEWHERE At No.6, Carla tells Lisa that she’s going to visit Sarah later, she’s not coping very well and Harry is really struggling without her. Lisa’s left troubled. In the Rovers, Idris rounds on Adam for representing Abi and suing him over the mould in the flat. Adam remains unrepentant.

Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 27th July

So here we are at the end of July, more than half way through the year and I thought I'd check in on the storylines and see how long they've been dragging out.

Harper. The Platts found out about Harper's tumour on 11th November last year, meaning that this storyline has been going for 258 days. In the last ep, Lily found the trinket box and looked distressed; today she tries to tell her pops, but David won't let her speak, just telling her Jodie is gone for good - or until the half time break anyway. David also foolishly tells Lily where the console is stashed, meaning that it's blown as a secret hiding place. Let's hope Lily's forgotten about it by her bday next month. The extended Platts meet at number 8 but David won't let Sam hold Harper, which upsets him. Idris gives him a pep talk and all seems good in Battersby-Tilsley-Blakeman-Nazir world until Abi turns up to make threats to Idris.

Coronation Street - Jodie - ITV

Jodie. We were first introduced to Ramsey Jnr on 5th Jan, so 203 days ago. Isn't it about time we learned the truth about her, the fake kidnap and the guy from Emmerdale? She rocks up at Harper's homecoming party and tells she's confessed all to the cops re: bopping her sister-in-law on the head. Whilst she's scarfing champagne, Lily asks her about the gun in the box, but Jodie denies it, and Lily finally tells David in the final scene of the ep.

Coronation Street - Tyrone Cassie Steve Tracy

Ross. Ok, this is a new storyline. He slimily hangs around the street and overhears Cassie speaking to someone from the internet (the one that only exists in Weatherfield) about his previous bad boyfriend behaviour, but when the woman turns up, it seems that Ross has nobbled her and she says she made it all up.

IT’S FINALLY HOMETIME FOR HARPER David and Shona arrive home from hospital with Harper to a surprise family welcome party. Everyone is stunned when Jodie arrives and tells them that she has told the police about the assault, they are shocked when she asks if she can move back in whilst she waits for her court case. Meanwhile Sam is upset when David won’t let him hold Harper. Making sure there’s nobody in earshot, Lily quizzes Jodie about the trinket box.Bethany visits Sarah in prison and tells her about Jodie’s shock arrival at the party and how she confessed to the police about the assault on her.

SAM STRUGGLES TO FIT BACK IN, Sam tells Idris about the incident with Harper and how it’s clear David thinks he’s mentally unstable and doesn’t trust him. In turn, Idris tells him about his own anxieties as a teen and how he overcame them. Nick and Toyah arrive and Sam assures them that after a chat with Idris he feels much better.

STEVE PUTS HIS FOOT DOWN WITH CASSIE On the street, Cassie takes a call from one of Ross’s exes, a woman named Alison. Ross overhears and recognises her name. Cassie summons Steve, Tyrone, Tracy and Ross to the Rovers and introduces them to Alison Shave, Ross’s ex-girlfriend and reveals how Ross stole money from her and threatened her. How will Ross react?
