Road to Coronation Street wins BAFTA

It's BAFTA night tonight. That's The British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

And it's great news for the BBC4 drama "The Road to Coronation Street",as the programme has won the Best Single Drama award.

The Road to Coronation Street was written by ex-Corrie writer Daran Little.  Find out more about Daran Little here.

Coronation Street drama nominated for three BAFTAs

This year's BAFTA nominations have just been revealed and Daran Little's drama The Road to Coronation Street has been nominated for Single Drama.  It also has two nominations in the Supporting Actress category for Jessie Wallace and Lynda Baron who played Pat Phoenix and Violet Carson. This is the first nomination for both actresses. Lynda Baron’s comes after over 45 years in the industry.  

The nominations are very well deserved and let's hope they get their awards when the Philips British Academy Television Awards, hosted by Graham Norton, are broadcast on BBC 1 on Sunday 22 May 2011.

I would say "The Road to Coronation Street" ends here but it hasn't been on yet! I suppose what I should say is that the wait for it ends tonight. We wait no longer! There are media reports all over the place just to get you in the mood (as if you really needed any more reason to be excited, waiting anxiously. So... We have a long piece on Jessie Wallace in the Mirror with lots about her role as Pat Phoenix as well as her return to that other soap. The Sun says Bill Roache wept a little after watching the drama, his past flashing before his eyes. Another little summary here in the Mirror, and Ian Wylie's fond memories of Coronation Street in the Guardian. A bottle of plonk, and a comfy seat for me tonight!

I can't wait for The Road to Coronation Street

It's almost Thursday and many of us are waiting on the edge of our seats for The Road to Coronation Street! There's a great piece in the Herald Scotland about the show. The author sat down to watch and was a bit skeptical at some of the casting, Jessie Wallace in particular as Elsie Tanner but was won over in a big way. The more I hear about this docudrama the more I'm just that anxious to see it! Can Thursday come any quicker?
