Corrie look-a-like: Tony Stewart and Ming the Merciless

It's now clear why Jason's dad Tony Stewart has been so nasty to Steve in this week's Coronation Street. He's really Ming the Merciless in disguise.

Faye Windass and Rosie Webster look-a-like

"You know who you remind me of?" asked Sally last night to Faye on Coronation Street. "Our Rosie..."

Well, yes, she does a bit.

Coronation Street blogger's dog is ITV soap look-a-like

Coronation Street's furriest fan appeared on This Morning earlier, and I'm sure you'll agree, he's probably the cutest too.

This is my two-year-old bulldog PJ, who has a slight resemblance to Corrie legend Ena Sharples - if he's in the right mood.

Thanks to Sharon Marshall for including PJ in the show. You can see other soap lookalikes by searching #soaplookalike on Twitter.

Nick the meerkat?

I was browsing through my Facebook feed and came across a short discussion about the new ITV Corrie sponsors, the Meerkats. General consensus was positive and the last comment made was by someone that thought that Nick resembled a meerkat. This is not a criticism, mind you. Meerkats are cute and although a bit on the thin side for my tastes, Ben Price is not a bad looking fellow.

He does remind me a bit of the animal, though, standing straight and tall, a slender build, with fair light brown hair not that far removed from meerkat fur colour. His eyes are close together and quite piercing, similar to the sharp, searching gaze of the animal and both look a bit world-weary. But then, having a mother like Gail can do that to you!

What do you think? I know I'll chuckle the next time Nick crosses his arms or pops his head up to look across a room or down the street.

Tongue firmly in cheek, no insult to Ben Price intended.

Is this the best Sophie Webster look-a-like, ever?

It's uncanny!  Could this be the best Sophie Webster look-a-like we've featured on the Coronation Street Blog?  Even more uncanny, this young lady's real name is Sophie too!  She's from Surrey and says people frequently tell her she looks like a spitting image of Sophie Webster, played by Corrie actress Brooke Vincent.

Corrie look-a-like: Little Max and Boris Johnson

One of them is easily distracted, likes female company, gets easily confused, mixes his words up - and the other is Max Platt from Coronation Street.

Good spot there, Gloria tonight (as written by the superb Carmel Morgan) on Coronation Street when she likened little Max to Boris Johnson.

Loads more Corrie look-a-likes-a-here.

Terry and Tommy Duckworth look-a-likes

Last night on Coronation Street, when Tommy admitted he'd been the school bully, there was a look of pride in dad Terry's eyes. "That's my boy!" he growled, reminding me of another dad and lad who used to use the same catchphrase. It's Spike and Tyke - from Tom and Jerry to Tom and Terry...

Coronation Street meets Barbary Lane

In our house, we're huge fans of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City series of novels. At Christmas we treated ourselves to the first two series on DVD - Tales of the City and More Tales of the City - and we've just received from the USA the DVDs of Further Tales of the City which have yet to be watched.

Anyway, I've been noticing some similarities between the residents of Barbary Lane and Coronation Street.

What do you reckon?

Two different countries, two different locations, two fantastic dramas going on.

Created by two men, both gay, passionate about their cities and background. Armistead Maupin in SanFran and Tony Warren in Salford.

With two fantastic leading ladies. Transsexual Mrs Madrigal in the US and home-grown Hayley Cropper striking a victory for transsexuals in the UK with, finally, a legal wedding to Roy.

Michael "Mouse" Tolliver was the leading man in the City and Todd Grimshaw was the first gay character that Corrie ever had. Both had characteristics of the writers who created them.

And no great drama would be complete without a strong lesbian relationship. Another first for Coronation Street.

The rather wonderful Dr Jon Fielding and equally caring sonographer Marcus Dent.
