Ian Mercer, who played Gary Mallett in Coronation Street, has been fined £185 for falsely claiming £2,300 for council tax, according to The Sun.
This comes just weeks after appearing in the new Pirates of The Caribbean film. He was shopped by a tip off who revealed that he claimed despite still getting acting work.
He said: "I'm in and out of work. I'm a married dad of two."
