Corrie stars doodle for Epilepsy Action’s National Doodle Day

Coronation Street has joined in once again this year to raise funds for national charity Epilepsy Action.

National Doodle Day is on Friday 6 February 2015 and the proceeds will directly support the 600,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

This year’s Corrie doodlers range from Antony Cotton, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Stephanie Cole and Bruno Langley, to Julie Goodyear, aka legendary Rovers landlady Bet Lynch. Their sketches will feature alongside over a hundred more in a ten-day eBay auction starting on National Doodle Day, Friday 6 February.

Philippa Cartwright, Fundraising Manager at Epilepsy Action said: “Every year we’re overwhelmed by support from celebrities and always look forward to seeing the variety and creativity of the doodles they send in.

National Doodle Day is always a terrific success, raising thousands of pounds for Epilepsy Action. The highest-grossing doodle ever sold for over £1,600, but each one makes a huge difference to people with epilepsy and their families.”

Epilepsy affects around one in every 100 people in the UK alone and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day. Each year Epilepsy Action directly helps around one million people through a range of services, including its Epilepsy Helpline freephone 0808 800 5050, branch network, specialist nurse scheme and award-winning website, epilepsy.org.uk

Coronation Street charity doodles up for grabs

More of the Coronation Street cast have been busy doodling in the hope their squiggles can raise much-needed cash for charity.

We've already featured doodles by Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper), Bruno Langley (Todd Grimshaw) and Antony Cotton (Sean Tully) who have put pen to paper for this year’s National Doodle Day on Friday 7 March.

And now we have doodles by Cherylee Houston (Izzy Armstrong):

National Doodle Day, which is supported by Dodo Pad, publishers of the original family ‘doodle’ diary, aims to get as many people doodling as possible. The event raises money to help support the 600,000 people across the UK with epilepsy.

Information on the National Doodle Day celebrity auction and competition can be found at nationaldoodleday.org.uk. The auction will run from Friday 7 March to Sunday 16 March 2014. The closing date for entries into the National Doodle Day competition is Friday 4 April 2014.

Coronation Street doodles the day away for good cause

Stars of Coronation Street have been busy doodling in the hope their squiggles can raise much-needed cash for charity.

Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper), Bruno Langley (Todd Grimshaw) and Antony Cotton (Sean Tully) have put pen to paper for this year’s National Doodle Day on Friday 7 March. The celebrities’ scribbles will feature in a ten-day eBay auction, beginning on National Doodle Day, to raise funds for UK-wide charity Epilepsy Action.

National Doodle Day, which is supported by Dodo Pad, publishers of the original family ‘doodle’ diary, aims to get as many people doodling as possible. The event raises money to help support the 600,000 people across the UK with epilepsy.

Members of the public can also get in on the act by creating their own masterpiece and donating a pound to Epilepsy Action. There will be prizes for the best doodlers including arts and crafts vouchers and custom-made 3D doodles.

It's National Doodle Day on Friday 2 March 2012 and celebrities have been putting pen and pencil to paper to doodle their doings.

Doodles will be auctioned online on eBay from Friday next week and include three by Corrie cast members, past and present. You can view doodles by William Roache (Ken Barlow) here and Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth) here. On the right here is the doodle by Antony Cotton (Sean Tully).
