Preview of today's Coronation Street - Friday 22 August 2025

Friday 22 August

TRACY LEARNS THAT ABI LIKES TO KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY Carl is hiding upstairs at number 13 after a night of passion with Abi. Abi is at the corner shop buying lager when a puzzled Tracy sees her. With Abi out Debbie has let herself in to do some cleaning but goes dizzy and collapses on the living room floor. Carl rushes down and Abi returns home from the shop to find Carl tending to an unconscious Debbie. Abi calls an ambulance and Ronnie whilst Carl goes back upstairs to hide. Alone at No.13, Carl pulls Abi in for a hug which soon turns into a passionate kiss. Tracy watches them through the kitchen window, a devious smile on her face. What will she do with this information? At the hospital, Debbie assures Ronnie and Carl that she’s been given the all clear and tells Carl she’s sorry he had to return early from Wales. Carl masks his guilt.

NEWS ABOUT LOU SENDS JOANIE INTO MELTDOWN When Tim reveals to a shocked Sally that Brody was planning to do a runner with the girls. Brody breaks the news to Joanie and Shanice that their Mum’s been sentenced to four years. As Sally tries to soothe the distraught girls, Tim answers a knock at the door to find it’s the social worker with a psychologist in tow. As they explain they are happy for the family to stay together a scream is heard from the garden, what has happened?

CARLA TAKES A FINANCIAL HIT FOR SARAH Carla gives Sarah a hard time and points out that because of her, a whole series of customers are now demanding the same discount as Eli. Kit feels for Sarah as Carla puts pressure on her to drum up new business to recoup some of the money. Meanwhile David and Lisa’s bin wars continue and when Lisa reveals that she’s keeping a note of every time she hears David the dog barking from next door, Carla’s amused.

ELSEWHERE At No.7, Aadi tells Dev and Asha that the police have let him off with a caution, he’s spoken to Cousin Vikram and he’s going to start afresh in India. Asha is gutted. Ollie calls at the shop to find Dee-Dee there with Laila in her pram. Dee-Dee reveals that Lailia is her daughter and suggests they meet for a drink so she can explain.

I love Tracey blackmailing Carl and Abbi. It would be just the sort of thing she'd do, especially as she can't have Carl. Hope's photo will no doubt be brought up again soon.
I don't know why Lisa is bothered by the Platt's dog, when she wants one of her own. Dogs do bark sometimes don't they? Also, we've seen Ryan at the new home but not Besty.
I'm looking forward to seeing Debbie and Ronnie's home life when they move into Carla's old flat.
I had a feeling that a social worker would take away Tim and Sally's girls. With one gone, it's only a matter of time before they take the other one.
Both will go to a new foster family, I expect.
I see Sarah and kit were having sarnies and crisps for lunch while Debbie and Ronnie tucked into packaged butties on a hospital bed.
It's good to see people eat occasionally, instead of pretending to have just eaten at the cafe, the bistro or the rovers. The takeaway cups at Roy's are empty. No -one can pick up a full, hot drink so easily and lightly!

What a lot of nonsense. Sarah playing the victim, supported by Kit and Carla, yet she did imprison Eli. She was absolutely in the wrong to do so.
As for the Carl and Abi fiasco, even Tracy wouldn't be daft enough to demand £10,000 from people who clearly don't have it. I suppose Carl will steal another car. So will Brody
of course.

Is the Neighbours From Hell scenario with David and Lisa supposed to be funny? Light relief from violence and intrigue? A miserable failure, nothing like the classic Corrie humour. Also out of character for Lisa who wouldn't be so petty.

Can't they just get rid of Tracey Barlow - it's old hat - not interesting and quite pathetic. To go - Tracey Barlow, Summer, Bernie, Gemma. Awful characters.

I'd like to see the back of Lisa, Besty, Kit, Summer, Ryan, Carl, Mary and Brian. Billy is leaving later and Aadi is taking a break. I'd like to see Daisy and Evelyn return. Bethany will be returning and Eva with her hubby and family.

I agree with your "to go" list. Not sure whether it's their bad storylines or the actors themselves that leave me cold. Could be a bit of both. Give us more Sally and Tim, George and Glenda, Ronnie and Debbie. While I'm at it, Andrew Whyment is a fantastic character actor, give him more to work with, than just playing some village idiot. I would also love to see more of Jack P Shepherd handing out pearls of wisdom in the salon to his "old dears" who love him. We don't need to see BIG DRAMAS all the time, just little funny banal everyday things tickle us more, the thing about the bins works for me. Little pettinesses that go on and on. Remember when Gail ordered to many olives for the Bistro and we would regularly see the olives thrust under customers noses. That always brought a smile to my face. Also, when she would come in to clean and say everything needed "a good bottoming" :-D

The show's definitely not going to improve then! What a sad state of a once great show.

Agreed!!! I do have a soft spot for Ryan and Brian though. Mary's character is just a bit of filler though. Somebody's got to man (woman) Preston's Petals anyway. :-D
