Coronation Street episode review, Monday 24th July

PAUL - SHELLY - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Billy is using Paul's consultant meeting to try and sack off his meeting on "The church, climate change and sustainability". Alright, Rishi Sunak! Anyway, shouldn't the Arch Deacon be leading on these types of things rather than whinging like an intern who has to go to a health and safety meeting? Paul goes the hospital on his own and meets Shelley from the MND support group who tells him if there's anything he wants to do, do it now before he's unable to. For Paul this isn't sky-diving or a 7 day bender in Ibiza, but assisted dying. He tells Billy he has something important to ask him and Billy changes into his best tight white trousers to be proposed to, but in the end Paul is proposing something else - that Billy help him end his life when the time comes. Billy is somewhat unimpressed by this, what with suicide being a sin and all in the eyes of the Lord. Perhaps he could get tips from Roy? They argue a bit and Paul makes a start on the bender, but Todd persuades him to talk to his boyf and by the end of the episode, they are engaged! Big Gay Wedding coming up?

GEORGE - EILEEN - TODD - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Talking of Todd, the comedy storyline is that he has been nominated for a Young Undertaker Of The Year award (the Emmys of the funeral world). Has George nominated him or was it a corpse happy with their send off? Apparently the prize used to be a trophy in the shape of a person with rigor mortis, but now is just a coffin. Gallows humour a plenty in this ep.

By the way, did Elieen tell Audrey to "make me look like Sally" at her recent hair appointment?

COURTNEY - AMY - AADI - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Meanwhile, Dev is fantasising about future commerce whist Aadi is fantasising about Ms Scouse McBoobs (Courtney). Is Dev being played by Darren and his missus? Are they about to rip him off? I thought the storyline was that Dev would go into business with Darren, then lose lots of money when Dazza finds out about Aadi and Courtney but perhaps it's a bit more sinister than that. Anyway Aadi is only 17, Courtney you pervert (although Adam Hussain is (almost) 23 in real life so it's OK to show him in his boxers. I hope). They go back to number 7 for some afternoon delight and are caught by Amy who has the keys for some reason. She promises not to say anything even when Courtney invites Aadi to an Olly Murs gig. Friends don't let friends got to Olly Murs concerts with married women, Amy!

What's this? Tim is wearing his boots in the house! What about the soft furnishings? Fortunately Sally is not around to see this. Kung Fu Gerry (a.k.a the Tai Chi Guy) comes around to court Elaine, but she is not interested. Come on, Elaine! I like KFG and would like him to have a purpose to stay around. Meanwhile, Stephen is pretty interested in moving on to his next romance/victim as the fragrant Jenny Bradley comes to visit him in Kate Oates Memorial. I feel like this story has been done before (Liam/Maria/Tony) but I love the Stephen storyline, so I'm not complaining.

Rachel Stevenson - on twitter or X as no-one is calling it.

I wonder if Amy is going to be shoehorned in every storyline now?
I also wonder how soon before Amy blackmails Aadi for her silence[she is her mother's daughter]?
