Steve McDonald gurn of the week - December 4

This week's Steve McDonald gurn is a Corrie retro gurn, sent in to the blog by Canadian fan Diane. Clearly showing signs of Coronation Street gurn-ism back in 1995, Steve McGurn was captured here in a scene where he was arrested for possessing stolen whisky on Christmas Day.

Simon Gregson "chuffed" as Steve McDonald voted Soaps fave

Steve McDonald has been voted the nation's favourite soap character. In a poll conducted by The People and YouGov, Coronation Street's Steve McDonald beat off the competition to become king of the soaps.

Simon Gregson, who plays Steve, said: "Oh my God, I am chuffed. I'm delighted people enjoy watching Steve and the scrapes he gets into. And I'm pleased people like to watch him as much as I love playing him."

The news that Steve McDonald is so popular with soap fans comes as he's also voted Corrie fans' favourite fella in an online poll here.

Also this week is the Steve McDonald turn of the week because it was such a wonderful picture from this week's Coronation Street. Thanks go to Canadian Corrie fan Diane for alerting the blog to this picture at the official Corrie site.

With thanks to @tommyreckless on twitter, we bring you this week's Steve McDonald Gurn of the Week - with a difference. Tommy has put together a few of our old gurns of the week from the Coronation Street Blog and mashed them up into a YouTube which might upset those of a sensitive disposition, for which I'll apologise in advance. Pharp.
