How on earth does Carl have a Manchester accent when he's spent nearly 40 years in Germany? He probably went to an international school where he would have picked up standard English without a regional accent. Or he might even have a mild German accent.
I'd love the actor to try speaking German (if he can :) )
He did use a German expression actually. Forgotten what it was now, but a nice touch. That's why I was so annoyed about the accent.
Bethany platt was whisked off to Milan when she was around 4 , came back to the street when she was around 18 and didn't have the slightest trace of an Italian accent. Peter and Susan Barlow were brought up in Scotland, weren't they, and neither had Scots accents.
By the way- Dee Dee's baby - the most likely people who would want Lalia is Joel's parents, as they wanted to adopt Frankie. Yet, strangely, there are nowhere to be seen!
I am disappointed tht Karl doesn't have a German accent either as he's never once set foot in England and was raised by a german mother. As for Abi finding him attractive. Her husband has cancer, she has two sons now having lost her other children...you would think that she wouldn't squander this second chance at life, that she would run from an affair. Of course that's real life then isn't it....just find this whole introduction of Karl terrible.

Carl’s mother is English, not German. She’s Percy Sugden’s niece, Elaine.
