Corrie women take to the skies and the road for charity

Remember back in the 90s when Des Barnes jumped out of an airplane for charity? Well, it's happening again, though not on Coronation Street. I spotted this report over on Corrie Canuck and thought our readers here would be interested, too. Tupele Dorgu, who plays Kelly on Corrie, is going to skydive on behalf of ActionAid, a charity that raises money for the poor on Sept. 5. It's the first time she's tried the adventure sport and will be falling from 10,000 feet!

Also under the ActionAid umbrella, Katy Cavanagh who plays Julie Carp is going to run in a 5K women only run/walk in London on Sept. 6 to raise money for AA's women's rights fund, sponsored by Addidas. There's an interview with Katy here starting at 1.04.24 on the timer.

Jim McDonald and his Ulster fry

It was a short but sweet visit from Jim McDonald on Corrie this week, and one in which most of his Corrie catchphrases came out. We had a "so it is", and a "catch yerself on". He called his ex-wife by her Sunday name of Elizabeth and then said those two magic words this fan was hoping to hear: "Ulster fry", Jim's breakfast of choice.

But what exactly is an Ulster fry? There's a recipe here.

Real Radio broadcasts from the Rovers Return

Ditchy and Salty from Real Radio Northwest have been on the Coronation Street set this week and will be broadcasting live from the Rovers Return today - Friday August 21st. Find out more here.

You can listen to the interviews from earlier this week with some of the Corrie cast members online here.

Why is Tony Gordon's henchman back on the Street?

News in from Digital Spy is that Tony Gordon's henchman is returning to Coronation Street. Jimmy Dockerson is played by Robert Beck, who's the real-life husband of Jane Danson who plays Leanne Battersby.

DS say that details surrounding Jimmy's comeback are being kept under wraps, but he was spotted filming last night on location with Alison King, who returned to work earlier this week as Carla Gordon.

The Sun reckons Tony hires Jimmy to kill Carla, ooh.
