Now then, I love Fairytale of New York.

I'm a big fan of The Pogues and a huge fan of the late, great, Kirsty MacColl. 

And as you know, I also love my Corrie, and so, without any further ado, here is my version of The Fairytale of Weatherfield.

 As Deirdre gives Tracy what for, on Christmas Day:

 As Deirdre and Ken lament their woes on Christmas Day:

Revealed: Why The Pogues' Shane MacGowan will be on Christmas Corrie

A few weeks ago we reported that Shane MacGowan, lead singer with The Pogues, had been spotted filming on the Coronation Street set.

And now we can finally reveal why - it's part of ITV's annual charity Text Santa.

This year, Coronation Street cast members will perform a version of 'Fairytale in Weatherfield' accompanied by Shane MacGowan.

I bet it won't have great lyrics like our version...

So there you have it. While it'll be well worth watching, I'm stil a bit disappointed that Shane's not being brought in to Corrie as Deirdre's new man.

Shane MacGowan from The Pogues joins Corrie for Christmas

Fans of The Pogues will be pleased to see that singer Shane MacGowan will make a Christmas appearance on Coronation Street, says TNT24.ie.

Shane's partner Victoria Mary Clarke posted pictures on Facebook of the Pogues singer enjoying a drink in the Rovers Return with actor Chris Gascoyne who plays Peter Barlow.

Sources to TNT24.ie confirm the episode will air on 20th December.

Ooh, I wonder if he's Deirdre's new fella?  Maybe he was there for some secret filming... but it's unlikely he would be in the main show, who knows?
