Bring back Margi Clarke to Coronation Street

Lucky locals: Ex-Corrie actress Margi Clarke reveals she now works as a barmaid in a pub in LiverpoolTabloids reported at the weekend that ex-Coronation Street actress Margi Clarke is now working in a pub as a barmaid to make ends meet between acting roles.

By 'eck... what's she doing in a bar when we need her back on the cobbles as Jackie Dobbs to help save her son Tyrone from evil, crazy Kirsty?

Bring Margi Clarke back, right now, Corrie boss man. Giver her a reason to return - ooh, how about to see her grand-daughter Ruby, for instance. And once she's there, what tiny bit of maternal instinct she ever had in her would rise to the surface to protect her son against evil, crazy Kirsty.  Oh go on, Corrie boss man, you know it's the right thing to do.

Margi is appearing in pantomime in Rhyl and says she's still in touch with her Corrie son Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone.

Bev Callard pulls out of stage play due to illness

Bev Callard, who played the wonderful Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, was all set to tour the nation in a stage play called Hormonal Housewives.

You can find out more about that here.

However, owing to illness, Beverley has had to pull out of the touring production, which starts in February.

Beverley said: “I am so sorry that I will be unable to do this fantastic show, but I aim to be back on my feet in no time. I am well on the way to recovery and look forward to seeing you all soon.”

Margi Clarke will now play the lead role in this comedy paying tribute to all ladies over a “certain age”.  It's the second time in a few weeks that Margi has stepped in to cover Bev's stage role.  She recently covered Bev's part in pantomime.

Jackie Dobbs and Deirdre Barlow - it's a girl thing

I'm looking forward to the return of Jackie Dobbs, are you? However, I'm hoping for more scenes between Jackie and her old-cell mate, Deirdre this time around.

The last time Jackie was on the Street she and Deirdre didn't even see each other, never mind cross words, tear each other's hair out or make the sign of the devil at each other from across the road.

Jackie Dobbs made life hell for Deirdre inside prison and wasn't much nicer to her when she turned up on the Street when they'd both been released. It'd be great to see Jackie try - and fail miserably - to worm her way back into Deirdre's life. Deirdre will get so stressed by it all she'll have to go and stand in the back lane. She'll have a fag hanging out of one side of her mouth and out of the other side, she'll play the harmonica.

Margi Clarke back in Coronation Street

Am I the only one more than a tad surprised with this snippet of news? Margi Clarke looks set to return to Coronation Street as Tyrone's mum, jailbird Jackie Dobbs.

A Coronation Street source told Digital Spy: “Margi’s return is heavily penciled in but she’s not signed her contract yet. We really do hope she does make a comeback as it ties in perfectly with the development of Tyrone and Molly. We also meet Molly’s Auntie Pam at the same time too."

Blinkin' eck, Margi Clarke back in Corrie. Who'd have thought it?
