Coronation Street artwork for sale

A few months ago, I spotted on Facebook  a really nice graphic of the Street. It's by a Toronto artist, David Crighton but there was no word at the time as to how you could purchase a copy of the print. I've had an email from Mr. Crighton and he's now got prints for sale. You can see a closeup of the full Coronation Street collage here.

You may notice that the houses/businesses are out of order but they're supposed to be like that, a kind of collage. You can also get sections of the main art view as a print, i.e. just the Rovers as in this photo here (copyright David Crighton of course!). Click here to see the poster showing the individual "section" prints.

He is selling the prints unmounted and signed and will be setting up a Paypal account for payment. Shipping costs within Canada should be under $15 and he will ship outside of Canada, though costs may vary. Prints are 8x12 inches in size and cost $50 Canadian for one or $175 for a set of four (plus applicable taxes and shipping costs) He's taking orders or inquiries by email david@davidcrighton.com

You can find David Crighton on Facebook and on his personal website, in the "Outside Toronto" section here. He also has some really lovely prints in a similar style of Toronto scenes. Check them out, too!

William Turner's Corrie picture in new exhibition

A picture of Coronation Street painted shortly after the show began back in 1960 has gone on display in Greater Manchester. Artist William Turner said he "speculatively produced" the painting in 1961 hoping "it would quickly sell". However, Coronation Street got no buyer, despite being offered to the programme's producer, who "didn't want it", the artist said.

The painting shows the famous terraced houses and the Rovers Return pub. The 92-year-old artist, who has been forced to give up painting because of the onset of Parkinson's Disease, was a close friend of LS Lowry.

The Coronation Street picture is part of an exhibition, which includes paintings by LS Lowry, at Hale's Clark Art Gallery in Hale, Cheshire. Check it out here.

Corrie art exhibition opens in London

There's a Coronation Street art exhibition opening this week on Thursday 1 July in north London.

The artist Rosalind Freeborn is exhibiting her collection of Corrie portraits made of paper collages at the Sable D'or Patisserie, 249 Muswell Hill Broadway, London, N10 until the end of July.

Have a look at the artist's website and why not visit the exhibition while it runs? (I live close by and will be popping up this weekend). All of the paper collages are available for sale too.
