Coronation Street Episode Review Wednesday 2 July 2025

Are you confused?  I am.  I promised to return this evening but there was no Friday episode so I thought I would look back to Wednesday.  The next episode is Thursday and then there will be a Friday episode next week so see you again then!  I also need to rescind a comment from last week.  The hospital do know who the red-headed patient is as they have a next of kin to contact - Lou who is also wandering around with Gary's phone in her bag as well as her own.  In the hospital there are concerns as the patient's condition deteriorates and he needs opening up to relieve pressure on the brain so they have to contact that next of kin.  No doubt someone will eventually explain events.  Lou has managed to get Brody to move home for the sake of the girls much to Aadi's relief.  Gary misses Liam's birthday which has everyone worried.  Maria decides the time has come to contact the police.

Kev has to see the medics today - he will be told if the cancer has gone or if needs further or different treatment.  Kev is also concerned that Abi is about to leave him and indeed the lady tells Carl that she is not sure what she wants and when Kev gets back with the good news she will tell him she wants a break to get away and think things through.  Thinking things through is what Kev does after he receives the news leaving his phone turned off so he cannot be reached and going walkabout for a while.  Abi should have gone with him to the hospital but Carl tricked her into taking a call out.  What Kev does tell everyone it is that further treatment is needed - which is completely undermined when Dr Gadass by saying how pleased he must be by the good news that they have dealt with the cancer - but then doctor-patient confidentiality means she cannot tell anyone else.

Theo's acting improves tonight when he has to become a plank in a challenge to Todd as to how long they can be planks.  Frankly my dears I don't give a damn.  Nor does George who knocks off early, brings himself a chippy tea and then nods off to snore loudly in front of the pair of planks and the TV.  He cannot move out as he gave his house to R'Glenda when they fell out over the inheritance.  Theo suggests that he and Todd get their own place.

Dee Dee is organising a baptism for Laila behind James's back.  With such a close knit family as the Bailey's how does she think it will remain confidential?  James is not in it to be a full time nanny and wants it all made official and no christening James tells her.  She then lies to Alya that James is not bothered about it but Alya gets the truth out of her - she does agree not to tell James.  Later Dee Dee hears from Billy that it can all happen tomorrow and she assures him that James will be happy with that.  She lies to Ronnie who overhears a part of the conversation.  She then talks James into letting the baby miss the yoga class tomorrow so that she can spend time with Dee Dee.

In other news she's back.  Hooray.

I should be back with next Friday's episode at some point.

Written by Simon Crowther and Ellen Taylor.  Directed by Merlyn Rice.

PS I forgot to mention that Liam Connor was born on 1 July 2009, so he was a day late with his birthday celebrations.
