Deedee sleeping with Joel was a bit ret-conned into the last episode and as we know, any heterosexual shenanigans on the Street ends in pregnancy. She confides in Sarah, who coincidentally had a baby with a bad 'un, but not in Lauren who waxes lyrical about how Joel almost ended her life but, ironically, gave her a reason to live (i.e. Baby Frankie).
Deedee meets a client in the Bistro, but when the woman starts talking about not being able to see her kids, Deedee suffers a panic attack and rushes out and into Kit who tells her (re Joel) to: "Put it into a box. It's done". Has Kit thought about going into counselling? She decides not to take his advice and get some spiritual guidance from the Arch Deacon. Never seen her down Billy's church of a Sunday, but then again, we don't usually see what happens on t'cobbles at the weekend. She is still undecided at the end of the episode as she drinks orange juice with her family, but doesn't tell them about the baby.
Meanwhile in the wayward sons household of no. 8, David's worried about Max, Shona's concerned for Clayton. To be honest, even though David's behaved abominably, you can see why he wouldn't want his second wife to have anything to do with his first wife's murderer. Shona checks her junk mail and finds an email from the prison and gets annoyed with David for not being bothered that she missed it, rather than for what David actually did. Nick advises David to come clean, so instead, David starts gaslighting Shona, telling her that her brain injury makes her forget thing and implies she put the email into junk by accident. Oh, David.
Talking of wayward, Mason may have rules about ice-cream eating, but his brothers have no rules and rock up whilst Betsy is attempting to flirt with him. What's a bit of wrongful imprisonment between friends? Older bro threatens Mason until Tim turns up and tells Big Bruv that he (Tim) was the one who dobbed him in to the cops.
Ken has come back from Porto without any pastel de nata for his progeny. He's also decided to sack Cassie, who is looking a lot more glam since she got her hair dyed in Portugal. Is Cassie hoping to be the Anna Nicole Smith to Ken's J Howard Marshall? Since Wendy Flamin' Crozier and Our Lady Of the Narrowboat, Martha, disappeared, Ken's love-life has been a bit quiet. Perhaps not, as we later see her crushing up pills and putting them in Ken's drink.
