KIT REPORTS HIS SUSPICIONS TO LISA Having clocked Gary and Maria arguing on the street Kit tells Lisa he is suspicious of their behaviour. Lisa reminds him he is off the case. Meanwhile an upset Maria confides in Sarah that her marriage is falling apart. Sarah tells Gary that she is struggling with her guilt but Gary begs her to keep quiet otherwise he could go to prison. Sarah arrives home to find Kit has cooked a romantic lunch. Kit drops to one knee and asks her to marry him, what answer will she give?

BERNIE GIVES CASSIE THE PUSH SHE NEEDS Tyrone’s golf day with his dad doesn't go quite to plan when Tyrone puts his back out. Meanwhile Bernie notices how uneasy Cassie is around Ross. She tells Bernie someone is blackmailing her and Bernie convinces her to tackle it face on. Will she take Bernie’s advice?

BETSY AND DYLAN PLAN FOR THE FUTURE After a disastrous attempt at cooking breakfast for Dylan, Betsy asks him for some cooking lessons. Dylan shows Betsy how to make a bolognaise and assures her that they’ll make their long distance relationship work. Betsy smiles and they hug.

ELSEWHERE Joseph hands Chesney and Gemma his school report and makes a rapid exit. They’re taken aback to discover that Joseph is often late with his homework.

BECKY GETS HER CHRISTMAS WISH Becky urges Lisa to forget about Carla and enjoy Christmas. When Lisa complains of tension in her neck, Becky gives her a massage. Becky starts to kiss Lisa on the back of her neck. Will Lisa respond? Becky suggests to Lisa that there’s nothing to stop them from rekindling their old life. Lisa sends Carla a text telling her how much she loves her and how she’d do anything to win her back.

MAGGIE FINDS MORE THAN SHE BARGAINED FOR Adam tells Eva it might help to write down her feelings in the form of a letter. When Alya enters, Adam shoves a jewellery box at Eva and asks her to hide it as it’s Alya’s present. Maggie watches as Eva hides the box. Maggie rifles through Eva’s handbag but she’s disappointed to find it’s a necklace engraved for Alya. However as she puts the box back, she finds Eva’s letter. Shocked by its contents, a conniving Maggie insists Adam and Alya must join the family for Christmas dinner.

IT’LL BE LONELY THIS CHRISTMAS FOR CARL Carl explains to James that his Mum died, he got drunk and he regrets sending him a text. James threatens to spill the beans to Abi. Can Carl stop him?

ELSEWHERE When Theo asks Todd if he’s looking forward to Christmas, Todd changes the subject and remarks how good it was to be back at work. Theo bristles. Returning with stacks of shopping, Theo explains that he’s invited all their friends for Christmas dinner but he’ll be doing the cooking, how will Todd react? Sally, Brody, Joanie and Shanice pull up outside the prison and wave a banner which reads “Happy Christmas Mum” in front of a security camera in the hope that Lou will see it.

DEV AND STEVE PLAY CUPID Steve and Mary hit on a plan to make Aadi stay in Weatherfield by getting him and Amy back together. Dev agrees to help and it looks as though it might work but despite agreeing to remind friends Aadi says he is looking forward to his new life in India. Dev hugs him emotionally and Asha hurries out in tears. In the Rovers’ backyard, Asha struggles to breathe, overwhelmed by a panic attack.

IT’S ALL IN A DAY’S WORK FOR ASHA

In the Rovers’ backyard, Asha remains in the throes of a panic attack and relives all the stress and horror of her last ambulance shift.

Flashback: We see the full horror of the day Asha has had which has led up to the panic attack; a death, an injured old lady and finally a racist attack on her.

As Asha sits with her eyes closed, struggling to breathe, Gemma approaches and offers words of comfort as a fellow twin. Gemma urges Asha to rejoin Aadi’s leaving party as he’ll be wondering where she’s got to.

Aadi finds Asha sitting on the bench in the backyard and senses that she’s not herself but when Asha starts to open up about her awful day, Dev arrives and she clams up. As Asha heads back into the pub, Aadi’s left concerned and offers to stay if she wants but she brushes her problems off as tiredness.

Asha records a voice note for Aadi telling him how much she’s going to miss him, how she doesn’t think she’ll cope and begging him not to go. As her finger hovers over ‘send’, she breaks down in tears. Will she send it?

BRODY NEEDS HELP When Dev catches Brody and Dylan stealing people’s drinks, he throws them out of the pub. As Brody and Dylan scarper, Tim wonders what’s going on. Dev explains how Brody ruined Aadi’s house party by turning up with drugs and now he’s tried to ruin Aadi’s leaving party. Sally and Tim tell Brody that social services called and Joanie is going to stay with her Aunt for the time being. Sally and Tim discuss Brody and how he needs their support more than ever.

TRACY’S GOT ABI AND CARL UNDER HER THUMB At No.13 Carl’s taken aback when Abi suggests to Carl they should start a new life in Germany. Abi finds Tracy in the café and explains how she never meant to fall for Carl, it just happened and the last thing she wants to do is hurt Kevin.

THEO WANTS TODD TO HIMSELF Theo hides his annoyance when Gemma reveals that she’s hosting birthday drinks in memory of her brother Paul and Todd will be there with Billy. Todd returns home to find Theo cooking a curry and when Todd reveals he is going out to the pub Theo emotionally blackmails him to stay in as he is worried about his kids.

Roy is concerned about Carla when she starts hearing things and looking confused. He suggests she goes home and get some rest but, increasingly worried about her, he lets himself into her flat and finding her barely conscious on the living room floor he calls an ambulance. In the hospital, the doctor tells Roy that he suspects Carla may be suffering from sepsis.

Meanwhile Lisa is unaware of the drama unfolding as she follows a newly released Matty and confronts him in the precinct demanding he tell her where he was the night Becky was killed. Having been warned off by Kit, Lisa returns home armed with flowers and wine but finds there’s no sign of Carla.

In the pub Sarah is concerned when she sees Daniel speaking to Daisy and when Daisy is reduced to tears Sarah follows her through the back room and asks what is going on.

At No.1, Cassie appears in Steve’s dressing gown. Steve and Tracy are shocked until she explains that with Steve working a night shift, she stayed over to look after Ken. Cassie winds Tracy up by making out she fancies Ken. How will Tracy react?

Cassie laments to Ken how he’s cultured, educated and kind whereas she’s the complete opposite. Ken feels sorry for her, unaware she’s playing him. Tracy warns Steve that Cassie is trying to get her claws into Ken and it would be a bad idea for him to move out.

ELSEWHERE At No.9, Evelyn sets about filling in an online university application form and confides in Tyrone that she’s applied to read law at university. Dylan calls at No.4 to find Mason busy cooking a meal for Betsy. When Dylan reveals that Tim filled him in on the abuse he’s suffered at the hands of his brothers and suggests they put the past behind them, Mason’s delighted. Betsy arrives at No.4 and is taken aback to find Mason’s cooked a three course meal and set the table complete with candles.
