Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 24th January
Apols that there has been no Monday review the last two weeks, I was away. Catching up, it seemed a busy fortnight: kidnapping, attempted fratricide, teen incarceration, gangsters, cancer operation, tea dances (at which no dancing was done), the return of a beloved character, and Craig seems to have got hair plugs.

To my knowledge, there are four characters quitting the soap: Max, Daisy, Eileen and Craig. Max we know will be off to chokey in Scotland to languish forever or until the character returns with a new head, Craig's exit will no doubt have something to do with Kit, who, once Swain's various crimes are revealed, will be running Weatherfield nick (along with that silent cop who got a line in last week's episode), but the other two leaving storylines are in play tonight.
Firstly, Daisy. She opens the ep by saying she's been offered an au pair job in Paris, much to Jenny's disgust, which is less to do with losing a barmaid/dogsbody and more because she thinks Double D deserve a happy ending. I think everyone else only wants them to be together to stop two other people being miserable. Daniel has very easily got over Beffany and is planning his future with Daisy as he believes the baby is his. Daisy is unconvinced until Daniel sweet talks her and then promises to sort out the debt to Carla and they snog, about two scenes before Daisy tells Jenny that Kit is actually the baby-daddy. That kid is going to be taller than Daisy by the time it's two. Daniel says he will buy the pub as an investment for Bertie (really? it gets burned down or goes bust every 5 years) with Jenny as bar manager and Carla will be off their collective backs. The irony is that the original reason that Daisy was after Daniel was for the money from his mum's house.

Next up: Eileen's leaving storyline, which will presumably revolve around Julie's return. La Carp bumps into a dishevelled Todd, who's spent the night at Chariot Square hotel with the moustachioed Romeo from the last ep. Is this Debbie's business plan - hold dating events for people who then book a room? She leaves her bag behind, which Todd returns and invites her to a surprise lunch with Eileen. Julie tries to leave without lunching but Todd starts rummaging through her bag and finds pills and a leaflet on cancer. Not more cancer! She admits to him that it's terminal.
Next, important news: Delphine's restaurant has survived both the pandemic and the cost of living crisis. Steve invites Cassie out whilst she hides a text saying that her iPad is about to be delivered. Once again, I have to say Cassie's ambitions are very low. Air-fryers and tablets - she should be getting Ken to change his will! Also, she gets Fiz to buy her some liquid anti-histamine; she's not very good at covering her tracks. In a street full of gangsters, she's a very bad criminal. Her evil plans go awry when Ken opens the iPad parcel and gives it to Amy.
Dylan is convinced he'll be off to juvie and Betsy, acting like it's 1939 and her sweetheart is off to war, snogs his face off. Everyone's moving on very quickly! She then says it was a mistake.
Finally, Bobby drops his keys off chez Carla and she tells him he can keep his job but it's over between them.
