Good evening. This evening's events happened on a completely different Street to last week's as there is no sign of Abi/Carl/Kev, (bring her back) Jenny Bradley has departed and another lady appears having once again failed down in that London. After some cross words when Dev explains to Bernie why Naomi has scrapped her planned court case, Asha applies some healing balm and the wedding between Dev and Bernie goes ahead and all is well - apart from Asha - is she able to hold it together for her first shift back on duty - she tells Sienna that she is grateful for her telling Dev the truth - but the smile mask soon slips.
(Bring her back) Jenny's departure has left Brian, in the new much smaller Kabin, short handed. Both Christina and Jake turn down his entreaties to become wage slaves. Jake claims to have some side-hustles already (county line drug dealing probably).
Theo has "gone missing". Jake (Gary and Izzy's son) hands a phone into the Kabin which Brian passes onto Todd. Later when Todd is having a convenient shower Theo pops into the flat, listens to Todd's answering machine message, grabs a can of beer and leaves again, leaving the phone where he found it. Around at the precinct Theo thanks Jake for his assistance in handing in his phone and making out that it is all part of a big joke. Most people would regard such as actions as "gaslighting" - which refers to the title of a 1938 play (Gas Light) by Patrick Hamilton which I saw in London some years ago with Rosamund Pike in a starring role. It deserves another production. Meanwhile Todd tries to report a missing Theo to the police who rightly are not interested and frankly nor am I. Have the soaps not done coercive control to death in recent years - it is not pleasant and it is not entertainment.
PC Heywood has a car thief in the interview room and thinks that DC Green might get a better story out of the girl. He is a little surprised to find Bethany Platt in front of him. She has borrowed her recent employer's car for the trip north and had arranged with another person to drive it back south. It seems that she has managed to screw up another big opportunity in that London and she is back with about £200 in her pocket, homeless and unemployed as she tells Sarah-Lou later once DC Green has straightened things out with the car owner (who apparently enjoys her liquid fuelled research sessions) and delivered to her mother who says that of course she can move in once again. (Slippery slope - the stories I could tell!).
Inevitably Daniel and Bethany's paths cross within seconds (odd as we have hardly seen Daniel for weeks) and this time they manage not to end up in bed together. However Bethany and Daniel meet for a catch up in the Bistro where he apologises and she makes it clear that they will not be getting back together again, ever. Indeed she would rather be celibate and live in a monastery at the North Pole. Daniel says that he agrees with her - he does not feel they are compatible.
Talking of DC Green things are looking up for him. Costello sees him with Carla who is fed up with Becky (sorry Aunty Kim) and like me does not believe the story they have been sold concerning the need for her disappearance and that it is now allegedly safe for her to return. Carla also suspects that "Aunty Kim" wants to re-instate the ante-disappearance relationships position. DC Green promises to make contact with DI Crawley who might know more - but Crawley does not return his call and instead contacts Costello. Costello thinks that flattery and praise (would that be "Plattery") might throw DC Green off the scent and suggests that if Kit does as he is told then he will become DS Green in no time at all as he has the power to ensure that happens. Kit expresses the view that he wishes to become the best detective there is.
With (bring her back) Jenny gone the road to George's heart is almost unobstructed. Glenda produces a list of pros and cons on Christina for George; it is short on pros and has some long cons. She is delivering it when Christina arrives and gets to read R'Glenda's opinions! However Christina rebuts the worst and at the Bistro over what I think was sushi and chop sticks George and Christina make clear their feelings. It seems that the two will soon be going for a ride together as he declares her to be a suitable young filly. The rest of the conversation is not fit for retelling here.

Shona gets in another mention for the devil child inside whilst looking as right as ninepence. Amazing pregnancy. Bethany suggests that if it is a girl then perhaps they should call it Gail or Audrey!

In an almost throwaway line in t'Rovers Gemma reminds Chesney about the need to make his own decisions in line with the self-empowerment podcast. Looks like Gemma is getting turned on by the thought of "happy places". Which in Chesney's case include Gemma having her kit off.

Speaking personally I do think that Christina's redemption arc does not really work - too much too soon given that it appears to be at the cost of both Daisy and (bring her back) Jenny. Clearly Carla and Kit are on to something "nasty in the police woodshed" at Weatherfield cop shop - but is it a tale of back street notherners in their back-to-back terraces? And of course Bethany is off to the North Pole to live like a hermit and Daniel is going to have a lobotomy if they ever get back together again. Plain as the noses on their faces. If I say any more about Theo it might be my excommunication from the blog - but please do not send him back to Ambridge.

I suspect and hope that Kit is only pretending to go along with Costello (who is clearly corrupt). But with D I Crawley giving him no information, how can Kit and Lisa find out the truth about Becky?
Jake always seemed a nice kid but he must have more of Gary's genes than Izzy's. Why are all the teenagers so ready to get involved in crime? First Dylan, now Jake.
