Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 31 July 2026

A Friday episode on a Friday, now here is a novelty.  We soon get the news that Tracy will be alright following her codeine overdose.  Steve finds a disused packed of the said drug in furtive looking Cassie's cardy and even he manages to put two and two together.  Steve summons Ty as Steve worked out that Cassie had used Tyrone's drug supply and whilst the dosage she used was merely intended to distort the readings of Ross's medical tests at the prison Tracy seems to have had a much higher dosage.  In any event Ross manages to come out of it all smelling of roses as he does the child minding whilst the adults sort themselves out.  Ty has had enough of the drama his mother creates and she must leave his house.  She is already touring as Miss Hannigan in Annie - so in case she has gone by this time next week I hope I can say that I really hope Cassie can come back some time in the future, our screens will be poorer for her absence.

Betsy makes it home from hospital with Debbie providing some useful thoughts as she arrives.  As it  has turned out nice in Manchester today, Betsy, Lisa, Lauren, Carla and Ryan are in their garden with Lisa concerned at the noise coming from next door where Debbie, Sally, Bernie, Fiz, Christina and Mary (but sadly no Glenda) are being loud, slightly alcohol infused and being served fresh pizzas by Tim from the brand new pizza oven which Sally and Tim have bought.  Mary is taking every opportunity to remind Christina of her bad behaviour and all is going well otherwise until Debbie fails to recognise Tim as he delivers pizza and tells him to go away.  

Mary had been hoping for a naked statue of Ben Shepard but as no-one knows what it is Sally has to tell them it is a pizza oven.  The ladies explain who Tim is but Debbie is obviously shocked by her own failure.  It looks like another book fell off the library shelf.  Debbie finishes her drink and then swears off alcohol, she is going teetotal.  

Eventually Ryan, Carla et al get Lisa to see that she is being slightly too much like a helicopter and needs to back off a bit.  She says she gets it.

In other news Nina is still missing her tips.  Nina asks her to be diplomatic when Sienna arrives so within 1 second of her arrival Nina is asking about the mislaid money.  Sienna stomps off.  Later Asha (looking for codeine) opens a drawer containing a brown envelope with all the money in it where Nina must have put it.  Oh dear lots of spilt milk to be sucked up.  

Cassie pleads with Steve but he hands her the cardy and slams the door in her face.  She has nowhere left to go. 

In big news tonight Dorin spoke twice.  Also Hope is clearly the brainbox in the family as she knows how fast the Polish economy is growing.  Ruby is not impressed that Hope can learn her lessons.  Some great lines tonight - Tim is like the Swedish muppet chef and Steve wagering his life on Cassie not being the poisoner.  Carla not wanting to eat the rear end of a lime green caterpillar left over from Frankie's second birthday party.  

In other news Daisy has moved.  She popped off to the Midlands to create Amber in "The Archers" before leaving so Amber could get pregnant (her replacement is not so good at squealing).  Daisy Charlotte Jordan has stayed in the Midlands and is now an apprentice hairdresser / murder mystery solver supporting Sally Philips in the Hairdresser Mysteries.  See you next week.

Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 17 July 2026

Good day.  Tonight we are back to only 30 minutes and I think this is Thursday's episode but I could be wrong.  Betsy is in hospital and Lauren for reasons that have not been explained in words of one syllable decides to tell Dylan, once DC McLaughlin has taken his statement, that Betsy does not want to see him, although Betsy is desperate to see Dylan and does not want the police involved.  Dylan claims it was all consensual and anyway Betsy was fine when he left her.  Fiz sees the police inviting Dylan to assist with their inquiries.  Sean spends much of the day looking for Dylan eventually finding him with Brody.  Dylan concocts a fantasy in which Betsy cheated with Brody after he had left and that Brody caused the injury.  When will someone admit that they are responsible, however inadvertently.  

Later Lauren tells everyone in the Rovers about Dylan's sexual practices and bans both Dylan and Sean from the Rovers which presumably means Sean has lost his job.  Dylan is particularly upset with Betsy as it seems she wants to see Brody and not him.  And there we have it.  Why would people who love each other cause each other any harm?  Lauren tells Betsy and Brody of the cheating allegation and Brody heads off to sort him out.  Why does Lauren feel the need to lie like this?  

Kit is ensuring that Sarah's and Gary's phones are completely wiped after ensuring that all the important information is stored on a usb drive for his personal use paying Jay to sort it for him.  Jake provides Gary with a replacement phone with a ring tone of "Remember Jake" as Gary has promised to attend his prize giving tomorrow (odd school terms finished today so definitely Thursday).

I get a distinct feeling Mary is not accepting Christina's apology any time soon.  Later Christina's phone pings and there are numerous text messages (unreadable) but this is not over yet I suspect with more parcels being delivered (I think).

Devious Dev borrows the money which is going to be used to keep Joseph at Oakhill now that Linda cannot pay as her business has gone bust.  However the story on the street is that Linda is actually paying and only the grown ups know the truth (Chesney and Gemma are not grown ups).  And frankly how can Dev borrow any money?  Linda is entirely onside with the story.  Can she come back please?

Tracy is none too happy with Cassie warning her off Ross who explains the flowers were for Fiz.  In the cafe Ross also tells Tracy that he wants to slow things down to zero as Ross wants to concentrate on Ty.  Tracy expresses her delight in his decision by taking the ketchup bottle from the table and squirting it on his food and into his brew.  In the Rovers later Cassie admits to Steve that she received cash when Ross slept with her.  She does not want to tell Ty this nugget but at the moment Ty does not think much of his mother anyway so I doubt it would make much difference.  

DC McGlaughlin, the new kid on the block passes DS Swain (Connor-Swain) a brown envelope plus authority from the superintendent to undertake an arrest.  We see Gary walking into the Rovers and it is implied there is enough in the brown envelope to justify him assisting them with their enquiries under caution.

I am not personally clear on why Lauren has quite such a downer on Dylan and I can only assume that she is recalling the no doubt similar abuse delivered by Joel (open to clarification on this).  I hate the story and indeed cannot even understand how or why such an act would even be contemplated.  What happened to people living their best lives on the back streets of Weatherfield?  It looks like Gary will be unable to attend Jake's prize giving.  I hope Dev gets good value for the near £50k he is funding.

Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 10 July 2026

Welcome.  We have two episodes this evening so there is a bit of detail but I am only going for the headlines.  Cassie has the  mother of all hangovers when she wakes in the Chariot Square Hotel, on her own.  When she gets home she is told by the girls that there is a family meal tonight in the Bistro and her presence is required.  Steve wants to try and talk through their differences - he sees no need to get married given how often he has failed at it in the past.  They both agree to forget the last couple of days.  Ty, Fiz, Cassie, Steve, Dorin, Hope and Ruby gather and the two girls spring their genetic surprise - Ross - Ty's biological father whom they have been messaging as Ty wanting to meet.  It transpires that Ross was also at the Chariot Square Hotel last night when Cassie was indulging in her "me time".  After a chat with Ross, Tyrone tells him that he is not prepared to have any more family in his life.  Ross is obviously not happy about it.

Betsy, Laruen, Dylan and Brody are milling around with Betsy sounding unsure about going to that London.  Abi warns Brody about working for Idris and if Kit has anything on Idris he is not telling Adam.  

George follows Christina and discovers she is meeting her ex-husband, Lenny.  She is an addict to spending and has multiple credit cards in a variety of names including the ex-husband who agrees not to go to the police if she sorts herself out.  George goes with her to an addiction support meeting.  There is a house meeting involving Christina, George, Todd, Mary and Glenda.  Christina undertakes to get it all sorted - but it looks like an uphill task.  Mary does not sound like she will forgive Christina nor will Glenda.  

DS Swain visits Todd, to give him an update on the investigation into Theo's death.  There is none.  Todd hardly seems bothered (well little does she know that he knows etc).  Indeed he is fed up with the whole thing.  The following day Kit finds he has been taken off the case moving to a big drug investigation and replaced by some new kid on the block.  Swain then decides to ask Maria about her and Gary on the night of the death and this just raises Maria's suspicions even higher.  Gary and Maria row and she gets het up, ending up in the Rovers where she has a a chat with Kit who reassures her that Gary and Sarah are not having an affair and that Maria can always confide in him, as he is not on the case any longer.  Later Maria tells Gary that he hopes he does get arrested and that they can get the truth out of him - because she cannot.  

Alfie appears to be on the road to recovery and Abi feels she is unable to sue Idris as she cannot afford a solicitor.  Sal arranges a chat with Adam - although it is unlikely he can take the case.  In the Rovers Sal and Abi remind Adam that Alfie is Imran's son and against his original decision they sweet talk Adam into taking the case.  Alya will not be happy.  

In the corner shop Ross makes it clear to Cassie that she gets Ty to play with his daddy or he will remember how little he paid for their night together as a cheap prozzy and will tell Steve about their most recent encounter.  Ruby apologises claiming it was all Hope's idea.  Cassie tries to talk Ty round but it initially does not go well.  After Ross repeats his threat to Cassie she realises this is tricky.  Tracy meets Ross in the cafe and has dinner in Speed Dahl with Ross and Steve.  Cassie and Ty collect a take away and run into them.  Ross is restoring an Austin Allegro (why?).  Ty softens when he is reminded that he was unable to be with Dorin for a period of time.  They agree to a round of golf - but I am pretty sure that Ty does not play.  

As I think is well known Cassie is about to leave and so this is leading up to her exit.  Whilst we now know who killed Theo DS Swain does not - I assume at some point it will all go away - but it feels a frag at the moment.  Given that Adam is hard up it is not clear how he can afford to work for nothing for Abi - we shall see.
