Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 12 June 2026

Confused?  I am.  I am back briefly and whilst I normally report on Friday's episode by my count we are actually looking at Wednesday and Thursday's episodes stitched together courtesy of some football.

The two episodes were dominated with Sam's increasing paranoia.  Newcomer "evil Roy" was deep inside Sam's head and having run away from Will and locked himself into the cafe Sam is left to face "evil Roy" and "real Roy" at the same time.  I would like to think that David Neilson was paid double for this episode at least.  Sam then hits "real Roy" with a chair and then goes missing overnight with the police and others looking for him.

Having had to release Summer as Tyrone has "remembered" seeing her the dynamic policing duo of Swain and Green interview Maria - we know she has given Gary an alibi but they are convinced that he dunnit (and we have seen him standing over a dead body which is not conclusive evidence).  However she stands up for her man who is behaving increasingly shiftily and they cannot find a reason to re-interview Gary who keeps skulking around with Sarah-Lou.  Gary tells Maria that he did not do it - but she knows something is wrong.  However we are no closer to finding the killer and at this rate the two detectives will be busted back to constable status patrolling the streets on foot.

Glenda, Christine, Sally (and Bernie who is missing) all want to go away with Debbie and Ronnie has arranged a break in Spain.  Debbie however fears that having a turn and being alone in a foreign country is a risk she cannot take.  The trip gets cancelled but alternatives are being discussed over serious amounts of alcohol.  As a side story Carl has a possible job in a garage in Eccles and is going to turn honest for a while.  Ronnie and the girls later agree to do something spontaneous instead of Spain.

For reasons I am not even willing to contemplate Carla and Lisa are going vegan this week.  Why?  However Carla comes across Sam in a ginnel and manoeuvres him to the play park whilst summoning Nick who then promises Sam he will not lock him before taking him to the hospital to have him locked up.  Sam will never trust him again.  Carla of course has experience of paranoia herself so will probably now suffer flashbacks.  At the hospital Toyah and Leanne arrive and they will be with Sam they promise.  

I hope Sam gets the help he needs.  Not sure why Carl has suddenly stopped being devious.  Gary is obviously lying and both he and Sarah know more than they are saying - but do they actually know anything?  Will Jodie go down for assault?  Will Nick accept that Sam is ill because he lost his mothers?  Will Summer ever give up on losing fathers?  These and many more questions are unlikely to be answered next week when I will not be here as I have to go to Yorkshire for a wedding.  See you in two weeks' time.

Episode Review Friday 13 February 2026

Welcome.  Carl is giving Ryan a hard time over making improvements and generally seeking to enhance customer satisfaction.  In total disrespect to Ryan's position Carl chews gum in front of the public and while talking to Ryan.  Ronnie spots the two of them exchanging words and tells Ryan that he is in charge and knows what he has to do.  The next time Carl fails to follow instructions Ryan sacks him.  Sadly Ryan did not follow the procedure in the handbook of checking Carl's relationship to the proprietor and we can expect a) The decision will be rescinded and b) the Employment Tribunal will reverse the decision.  You need to write a letter, have a formal investigation, a formal hearing with trade union representatives present and the process must be followed to the letter.  Carl has a drink in the Rovers and then looks at an insurance policy on his phone.  It turns out that he stands to benefit if anything happens to Chariot Square.

Todd is out running and almost stumbles over.  He is hearing Theo's voice in his head as he runs and then collapses outside Roys Rolls from where George and Christina emerge to pick him up.  They patch him in the undertaker's office.  When Christina pulls his trainers off we can see that Todd's feet have been bleeding.  George says he needs a break from the running.  However Todd says he will - but cannot because of the pressure on him.  

Daniel is off to the big house today so that the guy who assaulted him can say sorry.  Colin limps into the room and effectively admits two things - one - he cannot run for toffee and two - that he was pally to plead guilty as now he is in the dry, getting fed three times a day and receiving medical attention for his very gammy leg.  Daniel turns on his brain and suspects that he knows someone else who can run and decides to ask Will about it.  Will is having a bad day all round.  Earlier he asked for a pay rise or an advance (because we know he has a baby on the way he need to support) and gets turned down by his parents.  Then he knocks Susie's tablet flying shattering the screen and is told that he needs to pay for the replacement out of his earnings as Susie needs it for school work.  Then Will gets told off by Megan for being slow on his run.  Maggie then also chides him for losing his temper earlier on.  So when Daniel wants to talk to him about his last essay Will is quick to apologise, although Daniel thinks Will might be overdoing the athletics and needs to concentrate on his work until his exams are over.  Daniel says he will give an extra chance.  Daniel tells Will that he and Megan are going away over Easter.  Daniel tells Will that he has to stop having this crush on Megan.  Daniel recalls Christmas Day and accuses Will of attacking him.  Later in the Bistro he tells Megan of his suspicions.  She tries to counter his beliefs and at least gets him to sleep on it so she thinks.  

Jodie keeps making herself useful and is now organising a present for Harry's birthday next month for David and Shona.  Harper's surgery is booked for 4 March.  

Ollie and Lauren went to a party but Ollie has decided they want to be friends.  Lauren is invited round to Betsy's for a girlie night where Carla gets to look after Frankie as the girls snack.  Betsy has texted Ollie who told her that Lauren had friend-zoned him.  Betsy has the romance of the year back on track.  Carla has received some good news from Ryan as they are working on a surprise for Lisa.  

Daniel talks to the police, Kit turns up at the Rovers and Will gets arrested.  Susie gets to witness her first arrest as does Megan, Maggie who is sending for a solicitor and advises Will to say nothing until the solicitor is there, Ben who is going with his son and Eva who is trying to keep Susie out of the way.

I don't know if it is a conscious change or not but tonight they certainly seemed to be running a couple of main stories whilst still keeping a couple of the lesser ones ticking over.  Jodie looks po faced every time David talks about family but she is not included in the definition of family.  No sign of Bernie and Mal tonight and we heard Theo's voice but did not see the man who was ever more unbearable on Thursday night.

Episode Review Friday 5 December 2025

We open and close this evening with the abomination of the story involving Todd and Theo.  Theo starts the morning by wanting to go back to bed to get Todd's heart rate up, then gets him going on the exercise bike to get his heart rate up; Theo's phone is linked to Todd's watch so he knows what and where Todd is at all times.  Danielle turns up to tell them that she is taking the kids to Tenerife for Christmas (good luck with that) and Todd indicates on Theo's behalf that does not sound like a good idea.  Theo then  returns and does his usual trick to make Todd look bad by telling Danielle and the kids to jet off making it seem to her that he thinks it is a good idea.  Then as soon as the lovely Danielle has gone he turns on Todd for interfering, that he does not want the kids to he away at Christmas and blames Todd for creating a situation where he cannot talk Danielle into a compromise because Todd had already poisoned the well, but then Todd has never been a proper parent as Theo emphasises.  (In other news Danielle used her exercise bike as a clothes dryer - you have been told Todd}.  Later Theo spots Todd having a farewell hug from Billy by skulking around a corner.  Todd has been shopping and bought some picture frames which are also cameras as I assume he is intending to record Theo beating the living daylights out of him when he is supposedly in Soho tripping over after one too many drinks.  

Ollie was dumped for reasons that Dee Dee is not willing to tell him.  Alya extracts the root cause - Dee Dee has the offer of a job in Singapore, a vast salary and lots of time to care for Laila.  James will not be amused.   Ed will not be amused.  Maggie deploys her honey laden tongue to explain exactly how little she likes Dee Dee.  Honestly Dee Dee just go - despite it breaking all the promises you have made.  Also someone remind me - wasn't the saintly Dee Dee totally against sex before marriage so has she been sleeping with Ollie?  Oh and that job offer - if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Talking of the Driscoll family (and we need to because they are driving the Rovers back to its proper place) Maggie seems not to have spotted Will glowering at Megan as she and Daniel happen to be kissing under the mistletoe at Eva's insistence after Megan is offered the job at Weatherfield High where she will be grooming teaching Will.  Apparently at the last Ofsted review the school did not do too well on "safeguarding" and it is currently the head's absolute priority.  Now I have not been in a school for a long time and the rules have changed but I thought these days schools were supposed to safeguard pupils from potential predators?  Perhaps Hull is a little behind the times and Megan will be sent on a course before commencing her employment?  Maggie meanwhile is instructing Ollie on her 65th birthday cake, and then completely changes her mind.  Megan tells Daniel that she wants to take things slowly and turns down a game of scrabble and a date whilst mollifying Will.

Lauren is hanging around behind the Rovers bar wedded to her mobile phone.  Detective Green spots there is something going on - but so far we do not have the faintest idea what.

Costello's phone has turned up and it is clean and there is no sign of a burner phone so Detectives Green and Swain are no further forward in solving the mystery of why Becky needed to be dead, why Costello is in hospital and what the invisible link is.  Carla is keeping tabs on the investigation as well.  Only Betsy seems supremely unaware that anything is wrong.  Where is AC12 when they are needed?  And in other unrelated worries why is Gary's emporium still claiming to be Webster's Bodyshop?  However Becky befriends Costello's daughter and finds out the lock code for Costello's tablet.  So either she can now she can communicate with Costello using the tablet.  Will someone ensure nothing this stupid ever appears on this programme again?  Later she dumps Costello's burner phone in a dustbin and the sim card in the drain so that is also tidied up.  

In other news, if Eva is going to use the hand pull then can she please pull it?  Sorry but it was awful!  You would think she had never been a barmaid ever.

I had originally ended up with a diatribe on the subject of Theo and Todd.  However my antagonism has been voiced previously so I will not repeat it this week.  For those with alternative views please tell me why I am wrong below or on Twitter.  I won't be here next week as I shall be in deepest darkest Cornwall but should be back for the following Friday.
