If Faye's dad was a returning character, I'd like him to be...

One of the spoilers that Phil Collinson talked about in the Digital Spy interview we blogged earlier was the possibility of Faye's father appearing on the cobbles. It got me thinking. We know that Faye's biological mother was a drug addict. Chances are that her father was one, too. What I would love is for that father to be Becky's former partner in crime, Slug, to be Faye's father!

Think about it. Becky and Slug were friends, lovers and did a lot of illegal stuff together including drugs so it's already established that Slug is or was a user. He brought Becky to her knees after her wedding by planting drugs in her handbag for slimy Cst. Hooch to find and hadn't reformed as he had pretended to Becks that he had.

It's not out of the realms of possibility that he could be Faye's father and I for one would love to see the excellent Marshall Lancaster back on Corrie for a visit!

Is Slug's reformation genuine?

He doesn't 'alf clean up well. Slug, that is... or I guess I should be calling him Neil. Slug was Becky's boyfriend and partner in crime a few years ago but when they got drunk and she was persuaded to help him nick Roy and Hayley's car and then stranded her out on the road, she finally dumped him. She'd disappointed the Croppers after everything they'd done for her and they were more important to her than her greasy druggie boyfriend.

"Slug" was a good name for him back then too, he really was creepy and disgusting. Well, now Slug seems to have cleaned himself up, pulled his act together, got a job and is working towards being respectable. Has he really changed? Maybe... but the spoilers say he's going to be blackmailed by that corrupt and bitter cop, Cst. Hooch (with a name like that, could he be any other sort?) and it's going to cause havoc for Becky again.

What I want to know is, is this turnaround of his life genuine and down the road, Hooch just drags him down again into his scheme to get revenge on Becky, or has that revenge scheme already started and this whole "clean up" routine is a scam as well? I'm going with the latter. Watch this spot.

Becky's Slug returns to Coronation Street

Remember a while ago it was revealed that Becky and Steve will go for wedding number two but someone from Becky's past will put a spanner in the works? I wonder if it'll be her old boyfriend, Slug?

Actor Marshall Lancaster is returning to Corrie as Slug, says Ian Wylie at the Manchester Evening News. Slug was last seen on the Street in 2007 when he got Becky into all sorts of trouble, and if I recall correctly, stole Roy and Hayley's prize Morris Minor Traveller.
